Okay, so yesterday I decided to work on making a beverage menu for a restaurant. I’ve never really done this before from scratch, so it was a bit of a learning curve, but a fun one!
Brainstorming & Gathering Ideas
First, I started by just jotting down all the types of drinks I could think of. You know, the basics: coffees, teas, sodas, juices, and then some fancier stuff like cocktails, mocktails, and maybe some special smoothies.

I spent some time looking at other restaurant menus online, just to get a feel for how they’re laid out and what kind of descriptions they use. I didn’t copy anything, I just wanted to see what’s common.
Organizing the Drinks
This was a little tricky. I decided to group the drinks into categories.
- Coffees & Teas: This section had everything from plain black coffee to lattes and different types of tea (herbal, black, green, etc.).
- Soft Drinks: The usual suspects, coke, sprite, that stuff.
- Juices & Smoothies: Freshly squeezed orange juice, apple juice, and some smoothie combinations I came up with.
- Cocktails: I added the classics, like a Margarita and a Mojito, and also the space to do custom ones.
- Mocktails: Non-alcoholic versions of some cocktails, plus some other fruity, fizzy drinks.
Writing Descriptions
Describing the drinks was actually pretty fun. I tried to make them sound appealing, without going over the top. For example, instead of just saying “Orange Juice,” I wrote “Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice – Bright and Tangy.” Just a little something extra, you know?
For the cocktails, I made sure to list the main ingredients, so people have an idea of what’s in them. For mocktails, I focused on the flavors and how refreshing they are.
Putting It All Together
I used a simple document to create the menu and i organized everything. I added the category headings, then listed the drinks underneath with their descriptions and prices.
I am very happy with the outcome, and I am looking forward to receiving feedback and improving it.
