Okay, so I gotta share what I got up to recently. Heard some buzz about ‘taboon’ food, Middle Eastern stuff, you know? A buddy kept going on about this place, specifically the bread baked in some special oven, a taboon oven he called it. Said it was something else. I’m usually skeptical, people hype things up, but I figured, why not? Had a free afternoon, felt like trying something different for a change.
Finding the spot wasn’t exactly straightforward. Maps on my phone were acting a bit weird, took me down a couple of wrong streets first. Honestly, almost gave up, thought maybe it wasn’t meant to be. But I was already out, and kinda hungry by then, so pushed on. Finally found it tucked away, nothing fancy from the outside, which I kinda liked. No big flashy signs.

Inside and Getting the Food
Walked in, and man, the smell hit me right away. Warm, yeasty, like proper baking. That must’ve been the taboon oven doing its thing. It wasn’t packed, thankfully, found a small table pretty easily. The menu wasn’t massive, which is often a good sign, means they focus on doing a few things well, right? Decided to keep it simple. Ordered some hummus, seemed like a must-have, and some grilled chicken skewers. And of course, I had to get that taboon bread everyone was talking about.
Didn’t have to wait too long. Watched them for a bit, pulling these flatbreads out of what looked like a clay oven built into the wall. Looked seriously hot in there. They puffed up immediately. Pretty cool to see, actually. Very hands-on, not like some places where everything comes out of a microwave.
Then the food arrived. Looked good, smelled even better. The chicken was juicy, nicely spiced. Hummus was smooth, creamy, really decent. But the star, gotta say, was the bread. Straight from that oven, still warm, slightly charred in spots, soft but with a bit of chew. Perfect for scooping up the hummus. Didn’t need anything fancy on it, just tasted great on its own. Simple, honest food.
Finished up everything. Felt properly satisfied, you know? Not stuffed, just good. It wasn’t complicated, wasn’t trying to be something it wasn’t. Just good ingredients, cooked well, especially that bread. Sometimes the simple stuff, done right, is exactly what you need. Glad I didn’t give up finding the place. Definitely gonna remember that taboon bread for a while.
