My Trip to Sakura Sushi & Thai Cuisine
So, I’d been hearing folks talk a bit about “Sakura Sushi & Thai Cuisine.” You know how it goes, one person says something, then another, and before you know it, the name’s just rattling around in your brain. I figured, heck, why not give it a whirl. Had to eat, didn’t I?
Getting There and What I Saw First
I drove over on a weekday, figured it wouldn’t be too packed. Actually found a parking spot pretty easy, so that was a good start. Walked in. The place itself… well, it was a restaurant. Kinda dim lights, you know, trying to set a “mood” or something. It smelled like soy sauce mixed with something kinda sweet, probably the Thai food cooking. It always feels a bit funny to me when a place tries to do two totally different things. Like, are you amazing at sushi, or amazing at Thai? Or just sort of okay at both?

Down to Business: Ordering and What I Ate
Got a table, picked up the menu. Man, that thing was huge. So many sushi options, then a whole bunch of Thai dishes. My stomach was growling, so I didn’t want to take all day. I decided to order:
- Some salmon nigiri – you gotta try the simple stuff to know if they’re any good.
- A spicy tuna roll, another classic.
- And from the Thai side, a green curry. Felt like a safe bet.
Then I waited. Didn’t take too long, which was nice. The sushi came out first. It looked decent, I guess. But the rice… it was a little on the soft side, a bit mushy. Not horrible, but not that perfect rice you really want with sushi. The fish itself was alright. Just alright. It didn’t make me go “wow” or anything. The spicy tuna roll did have a nice little kick, so that was something.
Next up was the green curry. It smelled pretty good when they put it down. Looked colorful too. I took a bite. And man, was it sweet. Like, way sweeter than I expected. I don’t mind a little sweetness, but this was a lot. The chicken in it was cooked okay, not dry or anything. But that super sweet sauce just kind of took over everything else.
Other Stuff That Popped Into My Head
It made me think, you know? It’s like this one time I decided I was gonna fix a leaky pipe under my sink. I watched a couple of videos online, looked easy enough. Went out, bought some tools. Thought to myself, “This’ll be a piece of cake.” Long story short, I ended up with water all over the kitchen floor and had to call a plumber anyway, cost me double. Sometimes trying to do too many things, or thinking something’s easier than it is, just doesn’t work out. This Sakura place, doing sushi AND Thai… it felt a bit like that. Trying to be good at everything but maybe not great at anything specific?
The folks working there were… efficient. They brought the food, took the empty plates. Not a lot of talking, which is okay with me most of the time. But there wasn’t any real, like, friendly vibe either. Just felt like they were doing their jobs.
So, What’s the Final Word?
Well, I ate. My stomach wasn’t empty anymore. That’s a plus, right? Was it the best meal I’ve ever had? Nope. Was it awful? Nope. It was just… food. Would I be rushing to go back? Probably not. There are other sushi spots, and other Thai spots I’d probably try first. It’s one of those places that’s just… there. It’s in the neighborhood, it’ll feed you if you’re hungry. And sometimes, that’s all a place needs to be. But other times, you’re hoping for a little something more, you know?
That’s just my take on Sakura Sushi & Thai Cuisine. Just sharing what I went through. Your mileage may vary, as they say.
