Well now, if ya got some deer meat lying around and wonderin’ what to do with it, I reckon I got a real good idea for ya. A simple and tasty recipe for ground venison pasta that’ll fill ya up and keep ya comin’ back for more. This ain’t no fancy stuff, just the way we do it round here. So, grab yer apron, let’s get to cookin’!

Delicious Ground Venison Pasta Recipes for a Healthy Meal

Ingredients:

– 1 pound ground venison (fresh or thawed)

– 1 tablespoon pork fat or bacon ends (if you like a lil’ smoky flavor)

– 1 onion, chopped

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 can of crushed tomatoes (or fresh if you got ’em)

– 1 cup of beef or chicken broth (whatever you got in the cupboard)

– 1 teaspoon dried oregano

– 1 teaspoon dried basil

– 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (if ya like it spicy)

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 12 oz of pasta (spaghetti or whatever you prefer)

Now, first thing ya gotta do is heat up that big ol’ pot on the stove. If you’re usin’ bacon ends like I do, throw ’em in there with the pork fat and cook ’em up ’til they get crispy. Don’t throw away them bacon bits, they’re the best part! If you ain’t got bacon ends, any fat will do, just make sure you got a good sizzle goin’.

Once your fat’s nice and hot, throw in the chopped onion and garlic. Give it a good stir until it smells real good—about 2-3 minutes. Don’t rush this part, ya want them onions to get soft and sweet, not burn up.

Now, it’s time to add that ground venison. Stir it around, break it up real good, so it don’t clump together. Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes until it’s browned all over. Make sure you don’t skip this step—brown meat’s what gives it all that flavor.

Next, pour in your crushed tomatoes and broth. Stir it around, then throw in them seasonings—oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Let it all come to a nice simmer and cook for about 20 minutes. While that’s simmerin’, cook your pasta according to the package directions. Once it’s done, drain it and set it aside.

Once the sauce is thickened up and the flavors are all melded together, taste it. Adjust the seasoning if ya need to. You might wanna add a lil’ more salt or pepper—sometimes it needs it, sometimes it don’t.

Now, the fun part! Toss that cooked pasta in the sauce and give it a good mix. Let the pasta soak up that venison goodness for a minute. Serve it up on a plate, sprinkle a bit of parmesan on top if you got it, and you’re good to go!

This here venison pasta recipe is simple but hearty. It’s full of flavor, especially with that venison meat that’s lean and full of protein. You won’t find a healthier pasta dish than this one. You can always switch it up by addin’ some extra herbs or a bit of red wine if you want. But most days, this simple one’ll do just fine.

Some Extra Tips:

– If you like a bit more smokiness, you can add smoked paprika or even some chopped smoked sausage to the mix.

– Don’t have venison? You can swap it out with ground turkey or beef, though I do think venison gives it a special taste.

– This recipe can also be doubled if you got a crowd, just make sure to adjust your cookin’ times!
