Alright, let’s talk about them candy cane desserts, you know, the sweet stuff you eat after a meal. My grandkids, they love this kinda thing. Always beggin’ for somethin’ sweet. So, I learned a thing or two ‘bout makin’ these treats, not that I went to some fancy school or nothin’. Just plain ol’ kitchen smarts, ya know?

Make Candy Cane Desserts: Fun Holiday Baking Projects

First off, you got that Candy Cane Pie. Lord, I remember this one time, my neighbor, bless her heart, she made one. It was so good, I swear I ate half the thing myself. It’s got that creamy fillin’, all sweet and minty, and then that crust, nice and crumbly. You gotta crush up them candy canes real good, though. Don’t want no big chunks pokin’ ya in the mouth. And the secret? A little bit of that cream cheese, makes it real smooth.

  • Crush candy canes real good
  • Mix with cream cheese for smooth fillin’
  • Make a nice crumbly crust

Then there’s that Chocolate Peppermint Bark. Now this one’s easy peasy. Even I can whip it up in a jiffy. You just melt some chocolate – I like that dark kind, but the kids, they prefer the milky stuff. You pour it out on a pan, sprinkle them crushed candy canes on top, and let it cool. Boom! Done. It’s perfect for givin’ away, too. Wrap it up in some pretty paper, and there ya go, a nice little gift.

Dark Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies, oh my, these are somethin’ else. I made these once for the church bake sale. They were gone faster than a jackrabbit in a dog race. The chocolate and peppermint, they just go together, like peas in a pod. You gotta make sure the dough ain’t too sticky, though. Add a little extra flour if it is. And don’t forget to chill it before you bake ‘em. That way, they don’t spread out all over the pan.

And them Candy Cane Brownies? Lawd have mercy! These are rich, real rich. Fudgy, ya know? They stick to your teeth, but in a good way. I add the crushed candy canes right into the batter, and then I sprinkle some more on top after they’re baked. Makes ‘em look real pretty. My grandson, he says they’re the best brownies he’s ever had. Kids, they always tell the truth, right?

Now, you know, some folks, they just throw away them leftover candy canes after Christmas. But not me. Waste not, want not, that’s what my mama always said. You can use them for all sorts of things. Throw ‘em in your hot chocolate, put ‘em in your coffee. You can even make a candy cane syrup. Just boil some water, add the candy canes, and let ‘em melt. Strain it out, and there ya go. You got syrup for your pancakes, your waffles, whatever you want. See? Nothin’ goes to waste around here.

So, there ya have it. A few ideas for usin’ up them candy canes. It ain’t rocket science, ya know? Just good ol’ fashioned cookin’. And the best part? You get to see them smiles on your grandkids’ faces when they bite into somethin’ sweet and homemade. That’s worth more than all the gold in Fort Knox, if you ask me.

Remember to always keep an eye on the oven or stove, don’t want nothin’ burnin’. And let them desserts cool down before you start eatin’ ‘em, or you’ll burn your tongue somethin’ fierce. And most importantly, have fun with it! Cooking should be enjoyable, not some chore. Now go on, get in that kitchen and start bakin’!

Oh, and another thing. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Maybe add a little somethin’ extra to those recipes. A pinch of cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg. Who knows, you might just create somethin’ amazing. And don’t worry if it ain’t perfect the first time. Even I mess up sometimes. Just gotta keep tryin’, that’s all. That’s what life’s all about, right? Tryin’, failin’, and tryin’ again. Just like bakin’ a good ol’ dessert. And don’t forget to lick the spoon. That’s the best part! Okay, I’m done talkin’ now. Go on, get to bakin’!
