Okay, so listen up, y’all. I’m gonna tell ya ‘bout this place, Noi Thai Cuisine, down in Waikiki. Heard a bunch of folks chatterin’ ‘bout it, so I figured, why not give it a whirl, eh?
Now, Waikiki, that’s a fancy place. Lots of hustle and bustle, and them high-falutin’ shops. But this Noi Thai place, well, it’s right there in the thick of it. On Kalakaua Avenue, they say. Big street, lots of cars and people walkin’ every which way. You can’t miss it, they tell me. But honestly, I almost missed it even though it was on that big street, it’s still a bit hard to find for an old lady like me!
First thing’s first, the food. That’s what we’re all here for, right? They got all sorts of Thai grub. You know, that spicy stuff. Lots of noodles and rice, and they put all kinds of things in it. Chicken, beef, shrimp, vegetables… you name it. I ain’t no expert on this fancy foreign food, mind you, but I know what tastes good.
They got this soup, Tom Yum they call it. Spicy as all get out, but man, it warms ya right up. And the noodles, they call ‘em Pad Thai, they’re kinda sweet and sour, and they got peanuts all over ‘em. Crunchy and tasty. I had a plate of that, and let me tell you, it was piled high! Enough to feed a whole family, almost. I ate till my belly was full, and I still had some left over. Waste not, want not, that’s what I always say.
- They got somethin’ called green curry, red curry, yellow curry… I swear, they got more curries than I got chickens in my coop!
- And the seafood, oh my! Shrimp, fish, all sorts of stuff. Fresh, too. You can tell, it don’t taste all fishy and old.
Now, some folks say the service ain’t the best. They say you gotta wait a long time, and the waiters ain’t always the friendliest. Well, I can’t rightly say. When I went, it was kinda busy, but the folks there were nice enough to me. Maybe it’s ‘cause I look like someone’s grandma, you know? Folks tend to be nicer to grandmas. Or maybe I was just lucky, who knows? Anyway they are all speaking some kind of foreign language, and I just point at what I want on the menu pictures so things were okay.
And the prices, well, they ain’t exactly cheap. This ain’t no roadside diner, you know. This is Waikiki, fancy-schmancy land. You gotta pay a bit more for things here. But the food is good, I’ll give ‘em that. And the portions are big. So, you get what you pay for, I reckon.
They got pictures of the food on the menu, which is a good thing, ‘cause half them names I can’t even pronounce. And the place itself, it’s kinda fancy. Clean and tidy, and they got nice decorations and all. It’s a good place to take your family, or your sweetheart, if you wanna impress ‘em. Just make sure you got enough money in your purse!
Oh, and another thing. They say you can make reservations. That means you call ‘em up ahead of time and tell ‘em you’re comin’. That way, you don’t gotta wait so long. But me? I just walked right in. Like I said, I guess I was lucky. But if you’re plannin’ on goin’, especially on a weekend night, maybe call ahead. Better safe than sorry.
They take all them credit cards, too. You know, Visa, Mastercard, American Express… All them fancy things. I still like payin’ with cash, myself. But it’s good to know they got options. Makes it easier for folks.
So, all in all, I’d say Noi Thai Cuisine is a pretty good place to eat. The food is tasty, the portions are big, and the place is clean and fancy. Just be prepared to spend a little bit more than you would at your local diner. And maybe make a reservation, just in case. It’s worth checking out if you’re in Waikiki and you’re looking for something a little different. Just be warned, that spicy stuff can sneak up on ya!
