Well, let me tell ya ’bout this place, Corner 21 Chinese Cuisine. I ain’t no fancy food critic or nothin’, just tellin’ it like it is, ya know? It’s got two spots, one on East Republic Road and another on East Sunshine Street, both in Springfield. Heard folks talkin’ ’bout it, so I figured, why not give it a try?

First off, the Republic Road place, that’s at 1730 East Republic Road. Easy enough to find, I guess. The other one, that’s 1369 E Sunshine St. Same town, just a different spot. Now, don’t go expectin’ no fancy-schmancy decor or nothin’. It’s a place to eat, plain and simple.
They got all sorts of food, you know, Chinese food. Lots of chicken dishes, I reckon. And noodles, oh my, they got noodles galore. Big plates, too, enough to fill ya up good. I ain’t one for those tiny portions, ya see. I like a good, hearty meal, somethin’ that sticks to your ribs.
I tried their… uh… what was it called? Some kinda chicken somethin’. It was good, real good. Tasted like chicken, ya know? And they put these… uh… green things in it. Peppers, maybe? I ain’t sure what they were called, but they tasted alright. They had a kick to ’em, made my mouth tingle a bit. Not too much, just enough to wake ya up.
- They got this sweet and sour chicken, that’s pretty popular. Folks seem to like it. I ain’t a big fan of that sweet stuff myself, but my grandkids, they gobble it right up.
- And then there’s the… uh… General Tso’s chicken. Spicy, that one is. Got a good bite to it. Makes your nose run a little, but it’s good.
- Oh, and the noodles! They got all kinds of noodles. Thin noodles, thick noodles, fried noodles, noodles with stuff in ’em… you name it, they got it. I like the ones with the… uh… shrimp. They’re kinda salty and chewy, just the way I like ’em.
Now, about the prices… well, they ain’t too bad. You get a lot of food for your money, that’s for sure. I ain’t got money to throw around, ya know? I gotta be careful with my pennies. But this place, it’s affordable. You can feed a whole family without breakin’ the bank.
They’re closed on Mondays, though. Don’t go tryin’ to get your Chinese food fix on a Monday, ’cause you’ll be outta luck. But they’re open the rest of the week. Tuesday to Thursday, they open at 11 in the mornin’ and close at 9 at night. I ain’t sure about Friday and the weekend, gotta check on that.

The folks that work there, they’re alright. They don’t talk much, but they get the job done. They bring ya your food, and they fill up your water glass when it gets low. Can’t complain about that, I guess. They ain’t the chattiest bunch, but they’re polite enough.
They got pictures of the food, too. Lots of ’em. I guess that helps if you don’t know what to order. I just point at somethin’ that looks good and hope for the best. Hasn’t steered me wrong yet, though. I’ve liked pretty much everything I’ve tried there.
So, if you’re lookin’ for some good, honest Chinese food, Corner 21 ain’t a bad choice. It ain’t fancy, but it’s fillin’, and it won’t cost ya an arm and a leg. And that, in my book, is a good deal. Just remember, closed on Mondays! Don’t want ya wastin’ a trip, now do we?
142 Photos they got, or 139 Photos dependin’ on which place ya go. Plenty of pictures to look at while you’re waitin’ for your food. Speaks to how popular the place is, I reckon. Folks takin’ pictures of their food and all. Must be somethin’ special, right? Well, I think so, anyway.
Give it a try, why don’t ya? You might just like it. And if ya don’t, well, ya can’t say I didn’t warn ya. It’s just good, plain food, nothin’ fancy. But sometimes, that’s all ya need.
