Alright, let’s gab about somethin’ sweet after you had yourself a bowl of that chili. You know, the kinda stuff that warms your belly and maybe even makes your nose run a little. We ain’t talkin’ about fancy pants desserts here, just good ol’ fashioned sweets that go down real nice.

Now, I ain’t no fancy cook, but I know what tastes good. After you slurp down that chili, sometimes you just need somethin’ to take the edge off, ya know? Especially if that chili was a bit on the spicy side. Desserts that go with chili ain’t gotta be complicated, that’s for sure.

Discover The Best Desserts That Go With Chili
  • First off, you got your ice cream. Can’t go wrong with ice cream, can ya? Any flavor you like – vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, heck, even that fancy moose tracks stuff. It’s cold and sweet, and it just cools everything right down. Kids love it, old folks love it, everyone loves it. It’s a winner, I tell ya.
  • Then there’s cake. Now, I’m partial to a good ol’ chocolate cake myself, but any kind will do. Yellow cake, spice cake, even them little cupcakes. A piece of cake with a scoop of that ice cream we just talked about? Now you’re talkin’! That’s a dessert that’ll make ya smile.

Sometimes though, after a big bowl of chili, you don’t want somethin’ too heavy. That’s when you go for somethin’ light and fruity.

  • A fruit salad, maybe. Cut up some apples, bananas, oranges, whatever you got on hand. Toss it in a bowl and you’re good to go. It’s healthy, it’s tasty, and it won’t make ya feel stuffed.
  • Or how about a sorbet? That’s like ice cream, but not so creamy. Lemon sorbet is real nice after chili, kinda cleans your mouth out.

Now, if you’re feelin’ a bit fancy, or maybe you got company comin’ over, you might wanna try somethin’ a little more… special.

Flan, that’s one them fancy desserts. It’s kinda like a custard, real smooth and creamy. My niece made it once, and it was mighty tasty. Or you could try one of them tres leches cakes. That’s Spanish for “three milks,” and let me tell ya, it’s as rich and delicious as it sounds. Soaked in milk, it’s so moist and soft.

And then there’s chocolate lava cake. Oh my! That’s one for the chocolate lovers, that’s for sure. Cut it open and warm chocolate oozes out. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and… well, let’s just say it’s heavenly. It is a bit rich though, so maybe save it for a special occasion, ya know?

If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, how about crème brulee? That’s another one of them fancy desserts. It’s got a hard sugar crust on top that you gotta crack with a spoon, and then underneath is this creamy custard. It’s real good, but it can be a bit tricky to make. Don’t worry if it ain’t perfect, tastes good even if it looks a little funny.

And don’t forget good ol’ pie. Apple pie, cherry pie, pumpkin pie – any kind of pie you like. Warm it up, put a scoop of ice cream on top, and you’ve got yourself a dessert fit for a king, or, you know, just a regular person who likes pie. Pie is always a good choice, especially when it’s homemade. But store-bought is just fine too, ain’t nobody got time to be makin’ pie crust from scratch all the time.

Cookies are another good option, simple and easy. Chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, peanut butter cookies – whatever you got in the cookie jar. A couple of cookies and a glass of milk, that’s a perfect way to end a meal. It ain’t fancy, but it hits the spot.

So there ya have it, some ideas for desserts to go with your chili. Like I said, it ain’t gotta be complicated. Just pick somethin’ you like, somethin’ that’ll make ya happy, and enjoy it. After all, dessert is supposed to be the best part of the meal, right? Whether it’s somethin’ light and fruity, or somethin’ rich and decadent, the perfect dessert can make your whole meal that much better. And remember, there is no rule saying you can’t have more than one! Sometimes a little bit of everything is the best way to go. You just gotta listen to your sweet tooth, it’ll tell ya what to do.
