Alright, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this Middle Eastern cuisine cookbook. It’s a good one, I reckon. Got all sorts of stuff in it. You know, like them meals they eat over there in the Middle East. Never been there myself, but I’ve seen pictures. This cookbook, it’s like a little trip over there, without leavin’ your kitchen.
They got all kinds of food over there. This book, it shows ya how to make it. And it ain’t too hard, neither. I mean, some of it is a little fancy, but you can figure it out. Like, they use a lot of spices. You ever smelled cumin? Or that coriander stuff? It’s strong, but it’s good. This book tells ya how much to use, so you don’t overdo it. They use cumin, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, all kind of things in this Middle Eastern food.

- Cumin – that’s a good one.
- Coriander – smells kinda funny, but tastes good.
- Cinnamon – you know that one, like in apple pie.
- Turmeric – makes things yellow.
- Sumac – this one’s a little sour.
- Cardamom – I ain’t never used this one before, this book talks about it.
- Saffron – this one’s real expensive, they say.
And they eat a lot of that yogurt. Plain yogurt. They put it on everything. They call this the basics of Middle Eastern cooking. They use it like we use, I don’t know, ketchup or somethin’. It’s good, though. Cools down the spices. And they got these meats, all cooked on sticks. Skewers, they call ’em. Looks tasty. I bet it smells real good cookin’ over a fire. This cookbook got all kind of recipes, about 100 of them, to tell you how to cook these Middle Eastern dishes. They say they are authentic.
And they cook things slow over there. Like, all day slow. They put it in a pot and just let it simmer. Makes the meat real tender. That’s what they say. Stews is another thing they eat a lot of. It’s good for you, I reckon. And this cookbook, it tells you how to make stews and a whole lot more. All the Middle Eastern dishes you can think of, I bet.
And this book, it’s good for people who don’t have all day to cook. It tells ya little shortcuts. Like, you can use stuff that’s already made. Saves time. And you can cook a big batch of somethin’ and eat it all week. That’s what I do sometimes. Make a big pot of somethin’ and just keep eatin’ on it. This cookbook, it’s all about that Middle Eastern cuisine, so they say. They say it’s quick and easy, and you can do this on weeknights. And this part about cooking a lot in advance, they call it batch cooking.
There was this fella, long time ago, La Varenne or somethin’ his name was, and he made one of them old cookbooks. But he was from over there in, uh, Burgundy. This cookbook I’m talkin’ about ain’t by him, though. It’s about Middle Eastern food, not that Burgundy stuff. And there’s another one called Apicius, they say it’s from the fourth century. That’s a long time ago. But it’s not about this Middle Eastern food. This one I am talking about is all about that Middle Eastern cuisine, and how to cook it.
This book, it’s a good one if you wanna learn how to cook that Middle Eastern food. It’s easy to understand, even for an old gal like me. Got all them recipes in there, and pictures, too. Makes ya hungry just lookin’ at it. It’s got all these simple recipes, and they say they are easy to make. I reckon I might try one of these recipes one day. Maybe that skewered meat. Or that stew. Or maybe somethin’ with that yogurt. We’ll see.
They say this is simple Middle Eastern cooking. You know, just regular food, but from over there. I think they eat a lot of lamb, too. Don’t see much lamb around here. But this book, it probably tells ya how to cook that, too. If you like lamb. They got all kinds of things in this Middle Eastern cuisine cookbook. I seen it at the store the other day, it’s a good deal I think.
Now, if you like to try new things, this might be the cookbook for you. It ain’t like the food we usually eat around here, but it’s good to try somethin’ different every now and then. They say this food is good for you, too. They eat a lot of vegetables and them beans over there. And that yogurt, that’s supposed to be good for your digestion. This cookbook will tell you all about it, I reckon. And it’s all about the Middle Eastern food.
