My old kitchen, it was a sight, I tell ya. Cabinets all worn out, lookin’ sadder than a hound dog in the rain. I figured, gotta do somethin’ about these kitchen cupboards. Needed some trim, somethin’ to spruce ’em up.
Now, I ain’t made of money, you see. So, I had to be smart about this kitchen cupboard trim business. Whole new cupboards? Shoot, that’s outta the question. Too much money, that is. I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout refacin’. They said it’s like givin’ your cupboards a new face. But I needed an even cheaper way to make them look better, and that’s what I found with trims.
They take off the old doors and drawer fronts, but they leave the boxes. Then they put some new fancy stuff on the boxes. Sounds like a lot of work to me. And probably costs a pretty penny, too. Nope, not for me. No, sir.
I saw these folks on the TV talkin’ ’bout fancy kitchens, all shiny and new. They got these big islands and countertops that look like they cost more than my whole house. They say you can spend ten thousand dollars on a kitchen. Ten thousand! Can you believe that? I could buy a whole herd of cows for that kinda money.
- But they also said, if you’re smart, you can do it cheaper.
- Like, find some cupboards at that IKEA place.
- Or somethin’ like that, I don’t rightly remember.
- Then you gotta find someone to put ’em in for ya.
- And shop around for a good deal on countertops.
Well, I figured, I ain’t got time for all that runnin’ around. And I sure ain’t payin’ someone to do somethin’ I can do myself. Or at least, I can find a way to do it, with trims and a little elbow grease.
I went down to the store, the one that sells all the wood and things. They got all sorts of kitchen cupboard trim there. Little pieces of wood, all different shapes and sizes. Some plain, some fancy. You can choose from many colors. They told me I could get these trims and add them to my cupboards to make them look nice. I was happy to hear that!
They said I could use an old dresser or bookshelf for my kitchen. Just paint it up real good and put some new handles on it. That’s a good idea, I reckon. Save some money that way. I am all about saving money when I can.
I saw some kitchens in a magazine once. Small ones, they were. But they looked real nice, even though they weren’t fancy. They gave some ideas on how to make a small kitchen look good without spendin’ a fortune. That’s what I need, good ideas that don’t cost much.
They say there are places online where you can buy a whole kitchen for half price. Half price! That sounds like a good deal. But I don’t know nothin’ about buyin’ things online. Seems kinda risky to me. And how would they get it here? It’s not like they can just put a whole kitchen in the mail.
These folks who make kitchens, they say they use good stuff. Stuff that lasts a long time. That’s important, you know. You don’t want somethin’ that’s gonna fall apart after a year or two. You want it to last. My old kitchen cupboard lasted a long time.
They got all kinds of styles, too. Modern, they call it. I don’t know what that means. I just like things that look nice. And things that are easy to clean. That’s important, too. Nobody wants to spend all day scrubbin’ the kitchen, I can tell you that. You can get some kitchen cupboard trim to make it look however you want.
Fixin’ up your kitchen, it’s a big job. But I was able to just add the trims to make them look a little better. And there are lots of other options if you want a whole new look. Gotta figure out what you want and how much money you got. Then you can make a plan. And if you’re smart, you can make your kitchen look real nice without spendin’ a whole lot of money. Just use some nice trims. That’s what I did, and I’m happy with how it turned out.

You can get new doors, you can paint ’em, or you can do what I did and add some kitchen cupboard trim. Just gotta find what works for you.
