Okay, so I started this Daniel Fast thing, you know, trying to eat cleaner and all that. But man, the cravings for sweets hit me hard. I was really missing my usual desserts, so I decided to get a little creative in the kitchen. I mean, who says you can’t have tasty treats while fasting, right?
First, I thought about what I could actually eat. No processed sugars, no dairy, no fun, it seemed like. But then I remembered, hey, fruits are naturally sweet! So, I grabbed some bananas, because they’re like nature’s candy. I figured I’d try to make some kind of cookie with them. I mashed up a couple of ripe bananas in a bowl – that was easy enough. Then, I threw in some rolled oats. I just kind of eyeballed it, you know, enough to give it some texture.

I mixed it all up, and it looked kind of like, well, mashed bananas and oats. Not very cookie-like. But I wasn’t giving up. I added a pinch of salt, ’cause even sweet things need a little salt, right? Then I spooned the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I tried to make them into little cookie shapes, but they were pretty sticky.
My “Dessert” Experiment
- Mashed bananas
- Rolled oats
- A pinch of salt
Into the oven they went, at, like, 350 degrees I guess. I just kept an eye on them until they looked kind of golden brown. Took maybe 20 minutes, give or take. And you know what? They actually turned out pretty good! They weren’t crispy like regular cookies, more like soft and chewy, but they were sweet and satisfying. I even made a little “glaze” by mashing up some more bananas with a bit of water and drizzling it on top. Felt like I was cheating on my fast, but I totally wasn’t!
Then I thought, what else can I make? I had some dates in the pantry, those things are super sweet, like little caramels. So I chopped them up and mixed them with some nuts – almonds and walnuts, I think. Then I rolled them in this coconut powder to make these little dessert balls. They were okay, a bit too sweet for me, but my sister loved them. She said they tasted like those fancy energy bars you buy at the store. I think that’s what I will call them, energy balls!
Honestly, this whole Daniel Fast dessert thing turned out to be a fun little experiment. I discovered that you can actually make some pretty tasty treats without all the processed junk. It just takes a little creativity and a whole lot of fruit!
