Okay, folks, let’s talk about those eye-catching rainbow desserts you see all over the internet. I decided to give them a try myself, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure.
First, I gathered all my ingredients. I needed a bunch of different food colorings, and some basic stuff like flour, sugar, eggs – you know, the usual suspects for baking. I even grabbed some instant pudding mix because I saw a recipe for rainbow pudding pops that looked super fun.

Cake Time
I started with a simple cake recipe. Nothing fancy, just a regular white cake mix from the store. I divided the batter into six bowls, then added a different color to each one. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple – the whole rainbow gang was there. This part was kinda messy, not gonna lie. I got food coloring all over my fingers, but it was worth it. It’s more intersting than i expected. Then I carefully layered each color in a cake pan and baked it according to the instructions.
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Purple
While the cake was baking, I moved on to the pudding pops. I just whipped up some vanilla instant pudding and did the same thing – divided it into bowls and colored each one. I poured them into these little popsicle molds, layering the colors just like the cake. I stuck some popsicle sticks in and popped them in the freezer to set.
The Big Reveal
When the cake came out of the oven, it looked amazing! All those bright colors, it was like a party in a pan. I let it cool completely, then frosted it with some plain white frosting so the colors inside would really pop when I sliced it.
The pudding pops took a few hours to freeze solid. When they were ready, I carefully pulled them out of the molds. They were so cute! Perfect little rainbow treats.
Honestly, the whole process was a bit time-consuming, but the results were totally worth it. The cake was a huge hit – everyone loved how it looked, and it tasted pretty good too. The pudding pops were a fun and refreshing treat, especially on a hot day. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but seeing those rainbow colors come to life was pretty satisfying.
So that’s my rainbow dessert adventure. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely colorful and delicious!
