Okay, so today I wanna talk about making Scott’s barbecue sauce. I’ve been trying to recreate this amazing sauce for a while, and I think I’ve finally cracked the code. Or at least come pretty darn close.
First, gather all the ingredients. Now, the original recipe is a bit of a secret, but from what I gathered online and through some trial and error, here’s what I used:

- A good amount of vinegar – this is the base, after all.
- Tomato paste, ’cause what’s BBQ sauce without that tomatoey goodness?
- Some sugar. Gotta balance out that tang!
- Corn syrup – I guess this adds to the sweetness and maybe helps with the texture?
- Salt, naturally.
- Liquid smoke. This stuff is magic. It gives that smoky flavor without having to actually smoke anything.
- Worcestershire sauce. A dash of this adds a nice depth of flavor.
- Spices. I threw in some black pepper, a bit of ground mustard, and a pinch of paprika.
Now, for the process. I basically just dumped everything into a pot. I know, real sophisticated, right? I started with the vinegar and tomato paste, whisking them together to get a smooth base. Then, I added the sugar and corn syrup, stirring until they dissolved. After that, it was time for the salt, liquid smoke, and Worcestershire sauce. I gave it all a good stir, then sprinkled in the spices.
Once everything was in the pot, I turned the heat to low and let it simmer. You don’t want this stuff to boil, just a gentle simmer to let all the flavors meld together. I let it go for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. You’ll see it start to thicken up a bit.
After simmering, I took it off the heat and let it cool down. You gotta let it cool, folks. Not just for safety, but also because the flavors really develop as it cools. Once it was cool enough, I gave it a taste. And let me tell you, it was pretty close to the real Scott’s barbecue sauce! Maybe a little more tweaking next time, but I was pretty happy with it.
I stored the sauce in a jar and stuck it in the fridge. It should keep for a while, but let’s be honest, it probably won’t last that long. It’s that good! It is simple and I think I’ll be making it this way from now on!
So there you have it, my attempt at recreating Scott’s barbecue sauce. It wasn’t too hard, and the results were delicious. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
