Okay, so today, let’s talk about something fancy – Ace of Spades. Now, I’m not a big drinker, but you know, sometimes you just want to try something special, especially when it looks so darn cool in those shiny bottles. I saw this stuff, Ace of Spades, or as the fancy folks call it, Armand de Brignac, and I thought, “Why not?”
First off, getting my hands on a bottle was a bit of an adventure. It’s not like you can just walk into any store and grab one. This stuff is made in some small town in France, Rilly-la-Montagne, I think it’s called? And it’s owned by Jay-Z and some big luxury company, LVMH. No wonder it’s so exclusive!

I started by, you know, looking it up online. Found out they use three types of grapes – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. And each bottle is finished by hand. That’s some dedication. I mean, I can barely make a decent cup of coffee in the morning, and these guys are hand-finishing champagne bottles. Respect.
Getting the Ingredients
- Chardonnay grapes: Sourced these from a local vineyard. It wasn’t easy, but I managed.
- Pinot Noir: Same deal as the Chardonnay, had to do some searching.
- Pinot Meunier: This was the trickiest one, but I found a supplier eventually.
Once I got the grapes, the real work began. I tried to follow some guides I found about making champagne, but honestly, it’s a lot harder than it looks. Fermenting, blending, aging – it’s a whole process. I won’t bore you with the details, but let’s just say I gained a newfound appreciation for those champagne makers.
Mixing It Up
I did my best to mix the grapes in the right proportions. It’s like, you can’t just throw everything together and hope for the best. There’s an art to it. I tried to channel my inner winemaker, but I’m pretty sure I messed up somewhere along the way.
After what felt like forever, I finally had something that resembled champagne. It wasn’t quite the same as the real Ace of Spades, but it was close enough for me. I even got a metallic-looking bottle to put it in, just for kicks. It looked pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
Now, the taste. Well, it wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t like those expensive bottles I read about. I mean, I don’t have the same equipment or expertise as those folks in Champagne. But, it was a fun experience.
I tried it with my friends. I said I made it as a special occasion drink. They liked it well. Said it was a good drink for parties and stuff. I felt so proud! I even tried making some cocktails with it. A mimosa, to be exact. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
Would I do it again? Probably not. It’s a lot of work, and honestly, I’m more of a “buy it from the store” kind of person. But hey, at least I can say I tried making my own version of Ace of Spades. And it wasn’t a total disaster. That’s a win in my book.
