Okay, so today I wanted to try something new, and since I’ve always been fascinated by cocktails, I decided to make a French Connection with Grand Marnier. I’ve heard about this drink before, but never actually got around to making it.
First, I gathered all the ingredients. I needed some Cognac, and I had a bottle of Remy Martin VSOP, which I figured would be perfect. Then, of course, I needed the star of the show – Grand Marnier. I grabbed my bottle and was ready to go.

Next, I got my hands on an old-fashioned glass, the one you usually see people sipping whiskey from in movies. I poured in about 1 oz. of the Remy Martin Cognac. Then, I added roughly the same amount, 1 oz., of the Grand Marnier. Some folks online mentioned using Amaretto, but I really wanted that orange kick from the Grand Marnier, which is like a fancy orange-flavored brandy. It’s pretty good neat, by the way, if you like orange stuff.
I gently stirred the two together in the glass. It all mixed up pretty well, making this nice, amber-colored concoction. No need for any fancy shaking or extra stuff. I decided not to add any garnish because that’s what I saw online. And there it was, my very own French Connection.
I took a sip, and wow, it was quite something! The Cognac gave it this warm, smooth base, and the Grand Marnier added a sweet, citrusy twist. It’s a strong drink, I’ll give you that, but it’s also really smooth and flavorful. I can see why people like this. It’s kind of fancy but also pretty simple to make.
- Ingredients I Used:
- 1 oz. Remy Martin VSOP Cognac
- 1 oz. Grand Marnier
I think I’ll be making this again sometime. Maybe next time, I’ll try it with a bit less Cognac and more Grand Marnier, just to see how the taste changes. But yeah, that was my little adventure today. Making a French Connection with Grand Marnier, and it turned out pretty great!
