Okay, so, I had this idea to get into the Christmas spirit by making something with candy canes. I mean, who doesn’t love those minty, crunchy little things? I figured they’d be awesome in some desserts, and let me tell you, I was not wrong.
I started by thinking about what I could do with them. Crushing them seemed like a good first step, so I grabbed a bunch of candy canes and started smashing them up. I put them in a bag and just went at it with a rolling pin. It was kind of therapeutic, actually.

- First thing I tried was a candy cane dip. This was super easy. I just mixed some cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and some of the crushed-up candy canes. I did this all in a big bowl with a spatula, no fancy equipment needed. The hardest part was not eating all the candy canes before they made it into the bowl.
- Next up, I thought, “Why not cookies?” So, I made some dark chocolate cookies. The recipe was pretty standard, nothing special, but then I folded in some of the crushed candy canes. Baking them was just like any other cookie, set the timer, put them in the oven, and wait. It took about 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
- I also saw some stuff online about how long candy canes last. Apparently, they can last for years if you store them right. That’s crazy, right? I mean, I can barely keep them around for a week before I eat them all, but good to know, I guess.
Anyway, the dip was a hit. It was creamy and minty, and the crunch from the candy canes was just perfect. It’s definitely something I’ll be making for holiday parties. I served it with some pretzels and graham crackers, and everyone loved it.
The cookies were amazing too. The combination of dark chocolate and mint is always a winner in my book. The candy canes added a nice little crunch and a festive touch. I brought these to a friend’s potluck, and they were gone in minutes. People were asking for the recipe, which is always a good sign.
I’m pretty happy with how everything turned out. It was a fun little experiment, and I ended up with some tasty treats. Plus, it really put me in the holiday mood. I’m already thinking about what other candy cane desserts I can make next year. Maybe a cheesecake or something? The possibilities are endless!
So yeah, that’s my candy cane adventure. It was fun, it was messy, and it was delicious. If you’re looking for a way to add some extra cheer to your holiday season, I definitely recommend giving these a try. You won’t regret it!
