Okay, so I got this idea the other day to mess around with Skittles and booze. You know, like a fun weekend project. I’ve seen people do this online before and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started by grabbing a big bag of Skittles from the store. I’m talking about the 54-ounce party-size bag. I also picked up a bottle of vodka, the big one, around 750 mL.
Separate the Colors
First thing I did was separate all those Skittles by color. This took a bit of time, but it was kinda relaxing, like a weird, sugary meditation. I ended up with five piles: red, orange, yellow, green, and purple. I used some coffee filters I had lying around to help with the separation process, one for each color batch. I just poured each color group into a filter and set them aside.

Infuse the Vodka
Next, I took each pile of Skittles and dumped them into separate containers. Then, I poured the vodka over the Skittles, making sure they were all nicely covered. I gave each container a good stir and covered them up. Now, the waiting game began. I let them sit for a few hours, basically until the Skittles dissolved and the vodka took on the color of the candy. It was pretty cool to see the vodka change colors.
Mixing Cocktails
After the vodka was all infused and colorful, I decided to start experimenting with some cocktails. I had this idea to make something like those Newcastle Skittles drinks I’ve heard about. I also remembered reading about a drink called “American Skittles” that uses Peach Schnapps, lemonade, and cherry liqueur.
- First Attempt: I tried mixing the red Skittles vodka with some lemonade and a splash of cherry liqueur. It was okay, a bit too sweet for my taste, but definitely had that fruity vibe.
- Second Attempt: I mixed the orange Skittles vodka with a bit of Cointreau, which is an orange liqueur. Then, I poured it into a shot glass and dropped that into a glass of Red Bull. It was like a twist on the Jägerbomb. This one was interesting – the energy drink really kicked it up a notch.
- Third Attempt: I got creative and mixed the green Skittles vodka with some lemon-lime soda and a bit of lime juice. It was a refreshing, but not my favorite.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a fun experiment. The process of infusing the vodka was the most satisfying part. The cocktails were a mixed bag, some better than others. I think with a bit more tweaking, I could come up with some really
