Okay, so, I’ve been on this whole Krabby Patty gummy kick lately. You know, those colorful little burger-shaped candies from SpongeBob? Yeah, those things. I got obsessed with figuring out how to make them myself, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First, I spent hours scouring the internet for information. Most of what I found was just basic stuff about how they’re “fruity flavored” and come in colors like pineapple, grape, and cherry. There was also stuff about how many calories they have and that people think they’re tasty, which, duh, I already knew. I even found some random facts about Bolivians and the Aymara culture, which, while interesting, didn’t really help me make gummy burgers.

I did find out that they’re made with “gummy buns” and “gummy lettuce,” but that wasn’t exactly a recipe. So, I decided to just wing it. I bought a bunch of different gummy candies in various colors and flavors. My shopping cart was a rainbow of sugary goodness.
Then came the experimenting. Oh boy, was there a lot of experimenting. I tried melting down different gummies and shaping them, but that was a sticky, messy disaster. My kitchen looked like a gummy bear exploded in there.
- First attempt: Total fail. Tried to melt down some gummy bears and pour them into a burger-shaped mold. Ended up with a gooey, amorphous blob.
- Second attempt: Slightly better. I used different flavored gummy rings for the “buns” and tried to layer them with green gummy worms for “lettuce.” It looked… kinda like a burger, but it tasted weird.
- Third attempt: Closer! I found these small, round gummy candies that were already burger-bun-colored. I used those for the buns, and then carefully cut up some green gummy candies to make the lettuce. Still not perfect, but definitely progress.
After many, many failed attempts, I finally landed on something that resembled a Krabby Patty gummy. I used those pre-made round gummies for the buns, shredded some green gummy candies for the lettuce, and then added a red gummy ring in the middle for the “patty.” It wasn’t an exact replica, but it was close enough, and it tasted pretty darn good!
It took a lot of trial and error, and a whole lot of gummy candies, but I finally made my own Krabby Patty gummies. They might not be as perfect as the ones you buy in the store, but they were made with love (and a whole lot of sugar). Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go eat my weight in homemade gummy burgers.
Moral of the story?
Sometimes, you just gotta get your hands sticky and experiment to figure things out. And sometimes, the journey is just as sweet as the destination even if you become annoyed during the process, just don’t give up!
