Okay, here is my sharing about how I set up my Mexican kitchen.
So, I’ve been wanting to spice up my kitchen lately, and what better way than to go full-on Mexican? I mean, who doesn’t love a good taco night, right? I started this whole thing by looking online, seeing what’s out there in terms of “Mexican kitchen accessories.” There are lots of good ideas online. I made a list of what I thought was cool and useful.

First things first, I hit up a few local shops. You wouldn’t believe the treasures you can find tucked away in those little stores! I found this amazing handcrafted pottery, all colorful and vibrant. I picked up a couple of bowls and a really nice serving platter. I really felt I needed to add some real Mexican style to my kitchen.
Next, I went online to see what else I could snag. I stumbled upon this site that sells authentic rustic furniture. I managed to grab a small, wooden table that fits perfectly in my breakfast nook. It’s got this worn, rustic look that just screams “Mexico.” I also got myself a tortilla warmer. The seller said it keeps them warm for an hour, which is perfect for me ’cause I’m always running around doing a million things. The size of it is 11”, which is large enough for my family. I can put it in the microwave as well, which makes life easier when I’m in a rush.
Now, for the essentials. You can’t have a Mexican kitchen without a molcajete, right? I found a great one online, made of volcanic rock and everything. It’s perfect for making salsa and guacamole. And let me tell you, homemade salsa in a molcajete? Game changer! I also picked up a comal. It’s basically a flat griddle, and it’s perfect for making tortillas. I’m still getting the hang of making tortillas from scratch, but it’s been a fun learning process. It’s a super useful tool in the kitchen.
And because I wanted to make my kitchen bright, I searched for Mexican tin mirrors and talavera tiles, just like what I saw in the product introduction on the web. I replaced some of the old tiles with these, and they make the whole place feel so much more alive! Also, I decided to get some bright-colored tiles to put up behind my stove. I went with these gorgeous blue and yellow ones that just pop.
Here are the items I got:
- Handcrafted Pottery: Found some beautiful bowls and a serving platter at a local shop.
- Rustic Wooden Table: Bought a small table for my breakfast nook. It adds a perfect touch.
- Tortilla Warmer: Got a fabric pouch that keeps tortillas warm for up to an hour.
- Molcajete: Snagged a volcanic rock molcajete online. Homemade salsa time!
- Comal: Picked up a flat griddle for making tortillas. Still learning, but it’s fun!
- Talavera Tiles: Got some vibrant tiles to brighten up the walls behind my stove.
- Mexican Tin Mirrors: Bought two to hang on the walls.
The Final Look
Putting it all together was a blast. I moved some stuff around, hung up the new tin mirrors, and displayed my pottery. The kitchen feels so much warmer and more inviting now. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’m stepping into a little piece of Mexico. It’s amazing how a few key pieces can transform a space. My family loves it too. We’ve been having more taco nights than ever before, and everyone’s been getting in on the cooking action. Overall, this whole process was super rewarding. I love sharing this experience with you guys. If you’re thinking about giving your kitchen a little makeover, I say go for it! You won’t regret it.
