Okay, so I’ve been wanting to redo my kitchen for like, forever. And I had this idea, this vision in my head, of what I wanted. No microwave, just a nice, homey, kinda old-school vibe. It was a journey, let me tell you!
First thing I did was rip out all the old stuff. Cabinets, appliances, everything. It was a mess, but it felt good to start fresh. I spent days, maybe weeks, just looking at pictures online, in magazines, trying to figure out what cabinets I wanted. There are so many choices! Different colors, different styles…it was overwhelming.

Finally, I found these cabinets that were just perfect. They’re like a light wood, kinda modern but still with that classic feel. The series name was ASKERSUND and has a modern blonde ash wood effect. I think that’s what I was going for. Getting them installed was another story. Let’s just say, I’m not very handy. But I got it done, and once they were in, it started to feel like a real kitchen.
The Kitchen Island Dream
-
Then, there was the whole kitchen island situation. I always wanted one of those big islands in the middle of the kitchen. You know, the ones you see in movies? I looked at so many different styles. Some were huge, some were smaller. Some had storage, some didn’t. It was tough to decide.
I even looked at those 1-2 story layouts and simple ranch home designs. Those kitchen islands in these house are really amazing! Finally, I found this one from Catskill Craftsmen at Kohl’s (and get free shipping and easy returns!), and it was just right. It wasn’t too big, but it was big enough to have some extra counter space and some storage underneath. Plus, it matched the cabinets, which was a bonus.
Cookware

Next, I needed to find some new cookware. Since I wasn’t getting a microwave, I wanted to make sure I had some good pots and pans. I saw this one pan online that claimed it could do everything. Like, you could fry, boil, bake, all in one pan. I was skeptical, but I decided to give it a try.
And guess what? It’s actually pretty amazing! I’ve been using it for everything, and it’s been great not having a bunch of different pots and pans cluttering up my kitchen.
So, yeah, that’s my kitchen story. It took a while, and there were definitely some bumps along the way, but I’m so happy with how it turned out. It’s exactly what I wanted – a nice, homey kitchen with no microwave. It just feels good to be in there, you know? Like, I can actually enjoy cooking now. And that’s what it’s all about, right?
It’s like, I finally have the kitchen of my dreams. And it didn’t even need a microwave to make it happen. Who knew?
