Today I was thinking, man, I need to get better at making eggs. I mean, I eat eggs almost every morning, so I should be a pro, right? But sometimes they’re a mess, shells everywhere, yolks broken… So I started looking into some kitchen stuff that might help.

First, I grabbed a few different egg crackers I found online. One was called a “Quick Egg Cracker” and cost me around 15 bucks. Seemed a bit much for just cracking eggs, but hey, I was desperate. I also picked up a couple of those silicone egg rings. You know, the ones that are supposed to make perfectly round fried eggs? Yeah, those.

My Egg-cellent Experiment

I started with the Quick Egg Cracker. It looked a bit complicated, like some kind of medieval torture device for eggs. You put the egg in, squeeze, and supposedly, it cracks it perfectly. First try, I ended up with egg all over the counter. Not great. Second try, a little better, but still some shell bits in the bowl. It took me like five eggs to get the hang of it.

  • Tried the Quick Egg Cracker – messy at first, but got better
  • Used silicone egg rings – these were actually pretty cool
  • Tested a few other random egg tools I found

Next, I moved on to the egg rings. I heated up my pan, greased it a bit, and placed the rings in. Then I cracked an egg (using my newfound Quick Egg Cracker skills, of course) into each ring. And you know what? They worked pretty well! My eggs came out nice and round, just like in the pictures.

I also tested out a few other things like an egg separator and a weird-looking whisk. The separator was okay, nothing special. The whisk was just… weird. Didn’t really make a difference.

So, after a morning of egg-sperimenting, I’ve got a few new tricks up my sleeve. The Quick Egg Cracker, once you get used to it, is actually kind of handy. And those egg rings? Definitely worth it if you like your fried eggs looking fancy. I’m no egg-spert yet, but I’m getting there!

I feel that I could make better eggs, and the tools really help.
