Today, I wanted to try something new and make some brisk tea. I’d never made it from scratch before, so I was kind of excited to see how it would turn out. I looked up a bunch of recipes online and they all seemed pretty simple. You basically just need some tea, sugar, and lemon.
Gathering the Ingredients
First, I gathered all the ingredients. I went to the grocery store and picked up a box of black tea bags, a bag of sugar, and a few fresh lemons. I also grabbed a big pitcher from my cupboard.

Brewing the Tea
Next, I boiled some water in a pot. Once it was boiling, I turned off the heat and added in about eight tea bags. I let the tea steep for around five minutes, just like it said on the box. I didn’t want it to get too strong.
Adding Sweetener
While the tea was still hot, I poured in about a cup of sugar and stirred it until it dissolved. I know some people like to use honey or other sweeteners, but I figured I’d stick with regular sugar for my first time making it.
Lemon Juice Time
Then came the fun part – adding the lemon juice! I sliced the lemons in half and squeezed the juice into the tea. I used the juice from about two whole lemons, which seemed like the perfect amount. It gave the tea a nice, tangy flavor.
Cooling Down
After I mixed everything together, I poured the tea into the pitcher and stuck it in the fridge to cool down. I couldn’t wait to try it once it was nice and cold. It was a pretty hot day, so some iced tea sounded perfect.
Enjoying the Tea
A few hours later, I took the pitcher out of the fridge and poured myself a tall glass of brisk tea over ice. I took a sip and… it was great! It was sweet and refreshing, with just the right amount of lemon flavor. I was pretty proud of myself for making it from scratch.
I ended up drinking almost the whole pitcher throughout the day. It was the perfect drink to cool down on a hot afternoon. I’ll definitely be making this again soon. Maybe next time I’ll experiment with different types of tea or sweeteners.
I definitely had a fun time with it, and the tea was so good!
