Okay, so I’ve been trying to level up my smoothie game, and I kept seeing all these folks online raving about Isagenix shakes. I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m always up for trying something new, especially if it might make my mornings easier (and healthier!). So, I started digging around to figure out what exactly goes into these things.
My Ingredient Hunt
First, I needed to get the basics. I wasn’t about to buy some pre-made mix – I like knowing exactly what I’m putting into my body. So, I did some research and found some commonly suggested ingredients. No crazy secrets, just good ol’ stuff. The ingredient list I’ve made is below.

- Protein Powder: This seemed like a no-brainer. Everyone says protein is key for these shakes. I went with a whey protein isolate, because I saw to use it to be fast-digesting.
- Fruits: Of course! I grabbed some frozen berries (a mix of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries) because they’re easy to keep on hand, and some bananas.
- Veggies: I decided to sneak in some spinach. You can’t even taste it, I swear!
- Liquid Base: I started with plain old water, but then I also experimented with some unsweetened almond milk for a creamier texture.
- Healthy Fats: I added a spoonful of chia seeds for some extra fiber and those good-for-you fats. You could also use flax seeds or even a bit of nut butter.
- Sweetener (Optional): Honestly, the fruit usually makes it sweet enough for me, but I did try a tiny bit of honey a couple of times.
Putting It All Together
The first time, I just kind of threw everything into my blender in a random order. Big mistake! It came out kind of chunky. It is really not a good experience!
So, I learned my lesson. Here’s the order I use now, and it works way better:
- Liquid first (water or almond milk).
- Then the protein powder.
- Next, the greens (spinach).
- Then the frozen fruit.
- And finally, the chia seeds or any other add-ins.
I blend it all up until it’s nice and smooth. Sometimes, I add a few ice cubes if I want it extra cold.
The Verdict
Honestly, I’ve been pretty happy with my homemade “Isagenix” style shakes! They’re super easy to make, and I feel good knowing I’m getting a good dose of protein, fruits, and veggies first thing in the morning. Plus, it’s way cheaper than buying the pre-made stuff. I am very satisfied with the results!
It’s still a work in progress. I’m still playing around with different fruit combinations and add-ins. I think next time I’ll try adding some avocado for extra creaminess. But for now, this basic recipe is a winner in my book!
