Okay, so I’ve been seeing watermelon everywhere lately, and it got me thinking – what else can I do with it besides just slicing it up? I decided to dive in and try a few different dessert recipes. Gotta say, it was a fun (and sometimes messy!) experiment.
The First Attempt: Watermelon Pizza
First up, I went for something that looked super simple online – watermelon pizza. The idea is you take a big, round slice of watermelon and use that as your “crust.”

I started by cutting a nice, thick slice. It was a bit wobbly, so I had to trim the bottom to make it sit flat. Then came the “sauce.” I used some yogurt – I had vanilla on hand, but I bet a coconut flavor would be amazing too.
I spread that all over the watermelon slice, leaving a little bit of the red showing around the edges for the “crust” effect. Next, the toppings! I grabbed some blueberries, sliced strawberries, and a few kiwi pieces I had leftover. I arranged those on top of the yogurt, trying to make it look all pretty and, well, pizza-like.
Finally, I drizzled a tiny bit of honey over everything and sprinkled some shredded coconut for a little extra sweetness and texture. It looked awesome! It was pretty good, although a little awkward to eat. The watermelon gets a bit slippery with the yogurt.
Round Two: Watermelon Granita
Next, I wanted to try something a little more… refined, maybe? I found this recipe for watermelon granita, which is basically a fancy name for a slushy.
This one was super easy. I chopped up a bunch of watermelon – about four cups worth – and tossed it into my blender. I added a squeeze of lime juice, and a couple of tablespoons of sugar, then blended everything until it was totally smooth. You could strain out the seeds at this point if you want, but I didn’t bother.
Then, I poured the mixture into a shallow baking dish and stuck it in the freezer. The key here is to scrape it with a fork every 30 minutes or so. This breaks up the ice crystals and gives it that nice, fluffy granita texture. It took a few hours, but eventually, it turned into this beautiful, icy treat. It was so refreshing!
The grand finale: Watermelon Pops
Last try for me is Watermelon pops.I’d had an idea for this for a while.

First, I prepared some watermelon juice like making granita, but I put some honey in * that, I found my pops mold and then,I poured the watermelon juice in each one,but not too *,put them into the freezer for about 5 *’s so great, really cool and easy!
My Verdict
- Watermelon Pizza: Fun, visually appealing, but a little messy.
- Watermelon Granita: Super refreshing and easy to make, just requires a bit of patience.
- Watermelon pops:Very easy,very cool!
Overall, I had a blast experimenting with these watermelon desserts! It’s definitely inspired me to think outside the box (or, should I say, outside the rind?) when it comes to using up summer fruits.
