Okay, so the other day, I was having some friends over, and I realized I didn’t have a good way to tell everyone’s drinks apart. You know how it is – everyone’s got the same glasses, and suddenly, no one knows which drink is theirs. So, I decided to make some beverage markers.
Getting Started
First, I looked around the house for materials. I didn’t want to buy anything new if I could avoid it. I found some old colorful cardstock in my craft drawer, perfect! Then I grabbed a pair of scissors, a hole punch, and some thin ribbon I had leftover from a gift.

Making the Markers
I started by cutting the cardstock into small shapes. I went with simple circles and squares, nothing too fancy. You could totally do stars, hearts, or whatever you like, though. I made about a dozen, figuring that should be enough for my get-together.
Next, I used the hole punch to make a small hole at the top of each shape. This is where the ribbon will go through, so make sure it’s big enough, but not too big that the marker will fall off easily.
Then, I cut pieces of ribbon, about 6 inches long each. I threaded each ribbon through the hole in a cardstock shape and tied the ends together to make a loop. Easy peasy!
The Final Touch
To personalize it I used pens to make some simple design on each of them.
And that’s it! Simple beverage markers, made in like, 20 minutes, with stuff I already had. My friends loved them, and it was so much easier to keep track of our drinks. Plus, they looked pretty cute, if I do say so myself.
