Okay, so I decided to get serious about cooking meat properly. I’ve always just kind of winged it, but I wanted to up my game. So I started looking into what kind of kitchen utensils I really needed.
First, I grabbed a decent meat thermometer. No more guessing if the chicken is cooked through! I went with a simple digital one, nothing too fancy. I stuck it in, and it seems simple to use.

My Basic Meat Cooking Utensil List
- Meat Thermometer: Like I said, crucial for checking doneness.
- Good Knives: I realized my old knives were dull as butter knives. I invested in a chef’s knife and a smaller paring knife. What a difference!
- Tongs:For flipping and moving.
- Cutting Board:A large and sturdy one is what I picked. I chose one that is designed just for meat.
- Meat Tenderizer:I found that my meat was often tough. So, I bought this to make it easier to eat.
- Basting Brush:For applying marinades and sauces to keep it moist.
I used all this stuff to make a roast chicken the other day. I prepped the chicken, seasoned it, and used the tongs to put it in the roasting pan. Throughout the cooking, I basted it with some yummy sauce using the brush. And of course, I checked the temperature with the thermometer to make sure it was perfectly cooked.
It turned out way better than my usual attempts! I’m definitely going to keep experimenting with different meats and recipes now that I have the right tools. I also think the meat tenderizer is what really changed my result, I’m so happy that I tried it!
