Okay, so I’ve been on this huge apple kick lately. You know, ’cause it’s fall and all, and the apples at the farmer’s market have just been gorgeous. But I always end up buying way too many, and then I’m scrambling to figure out what to do with them before they go bad. So, I decided to find some apple desserts that I could freeze. Genius, right?
My Apple Freezing Adventure Begins
First thing I did was hit up the internet, of course. I searched for “apple desserts to freeze,” just like that. Found a bunch of recipes, some seemed okay, others, not so much.

I wanted stuff that was, you know, actually good after being frozen. Nobody wants a mushy, watery mess.
Experiment Time!
- Apple Crisp: A classic for a reason! I made a big batch of my usual apple crisp recipe, the one with tons of oats and butter and brown sugar in the topping. I baked it in a freezer-safe dish, let it cool completely (super important!), then wrapped it really tight with plastic wrap and foil.
The idea of having warm, ready-to-go apple crisp in my freezer whenever a craving hits made me very very happy.
- Apple Pie Filling: This one was a bit of a gamble.I peeled and sliced a mountain of apples, tossed them with sugar, cinnamon, a little nutmeg, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Then, instead of making a whole pie, I just dumped the filling into freezer bags.
I pressed out as much air as I could before sealing them.
My thinking was, I could thaw this out later and either make a quick pie or just use it as a topping for ice cream or yogurt.

Apple Muffins:
I love apple muffins, especially in the morning. So baked a whole bunch of them.
After cooling, wrapped individual in plastic wrap and put them all in a big freezer bag. Now I can just grab one in the morning, pop it in the microwave, and boom, instant breakfast.
I think those were the main freezer experients I did, though I might have missed some, i’d have to check my notes.
The Results?
So far, so good! I’ve already pulled out some of the apple crisp, and it was amazing. Just reheated it in the oven, and it tasted like I’d just made it. The apple pie filling I used it on some vanilla ice cream, and that was a total win. Muffins – also a winner.
Seriously, freezing apple desserts is a game-changer. I feel like I’ve conquered my fear of over-buying apples, and I have a stash of deliciousness waiting for me whenever I want it. Highly recommend giving it a try!
