Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with everything autumn lately. The colors, the smells, the food – I can’t get enough! So, I decided to do a little deep dive into seasonal ingredients and see what culinary magic I could whip up.
My Autumn Ingredients Adventure
First, I hit up the local farmer’s market. I just love seeing all the fresh produce piled high, it’s so inspiring. I grabbed a bunch of stuff that just screamed “autumn” to me:

- Butternut squash – a classic!
- Some gorgeous, deep red apples.
- A few sprigs of fresh rosemary, because why not?
- Cranberries, still firm and tart.
- And, of course, a pumpkin. Gotta have a pumpkin!
Back home, I laid everything out on my counter and just stared at it for a while, trying to figure out what to do. I knew I wanted to do something savory with the squash, and something sweet with the apples.
I decided to roast the butternut squash with the rosemary. I just chopped it up, tossed it with some olive oil, salt, pepper, and the rosemary, and popped it in the oven. Super simple, but so good. The smell alone was amazing!
The apples, I turned into a simple crisp. I sliced them up, mixed them with some sugar, cinnamon, and a bit of flour, and then topped it all with a crumbly mixture of butter, oats, and more sugar. Into the oven it went, until it was bubbly and golden brown.
While everything was baking, I tackled the cranberries. I decided to make a quick cranberry sauce. I just simmered them on the stove with some water and sugar until they popped and thickened. Easy peasy!
Finally, I carved the pumpkin! No fancy recipe here, I will use them in a pie. The seeds will roasted in the oven, perfect!
The results? Oh my goodness. The roasted squash was sweet and savory, the apple crisp was warm and comforting, and the cranberry sauce added the perfect tartness. And it all took so few steps to * was a total autumn feast, and it all came together because I just embraced those amazing seasonal ingredients. I can’t wait to see what other autumn-inspired dishes I can come up with!
