So, I’ve been hearing a lot about this place called BaoBao: Authentic Chinese Cuisine and how it’s supposedly the real deal when it comes to Chinese food. Naturally, I had to check it out for myself. I mean, finding good Chinese food can be a real pain, you know?
I started by looking up what other people were saying. Seems like they’re aiming for that legit Chinese food vibe, which is awesome. Some folks were saying it’s a bit pricey, but the food makes up for it. I also saw that the place is in Huntersville, NC. Good to know.

Then I checked out their menu. Bao, dumplings, wontons – all the good stuff. They even have this Sheng Jian Bao that’s apparently super popular and hard to find outside of, like, New York’s Chinatown. My mouth was already watering. I also saw they’re into this whole “authentic cuisine with a contemporary approach” thing. Sounds fancy.
So, I finally decided to go. I called them up to make sure I get a table and made my way to the restaurant. The place itself has a pretty nice atmosphere, you know, warm and welcoming. Just what they say they’re going for.
Now, the food. I ordered a bunch of stuff – you know, for research purposes. I tried their dumplings, and man, they were good. I went for the Sheng Jian Bao too, since everyone’s hyping it up, and it was totally worth it. Juicy and flavorful. Definitely something special. I also had some other dishes, and they were all on point.
I also found out that the chefs, Tom and Lisa Chen, are the parents of the owner of another Chinese place, 88 Baobao. Guess it runs in the family.
- Ordered the Sheng Jian Bao (lived up to the hype).
- Tried a variety of dumplings (all delicious).
- Sampled some other dishes (everything was great).
Yeah, it might be a little more expensive than your usual Chinese takeout, but honestly, it’s worth it. You can really taste the difference. It’s like, actual Chinese food, not some watered-down version. I’m definitely going back. Maybe I’ll even try to learn how to make some of this stuff myself. Although, knowing me, I’ll probably just end up back at BaoBao.
Anyway, if you’re ever in Huntersville and you’re craving some real Chinese food, you gotta check out BaoBao. You won’t regret it. Now that I have had some authentic Chinese food, it makes me feel like some of the food I got in California was not so amazing.
