Okay, so the other day I was craving some serious comfort food, but I was also feeling super lazy. You know those days? I remembered seeing this recipe floating around for “3 Ingredient No Peek Beef Tips” and thought, “Why not?” It sounded ridiculously easy, and I’m all about that life.
First, I grabbed about 2 pounds of beef stew meat from the fridge. I think you could use any cut that’s good for slow cooking, but stew meat was what I had. I didn’t trim any extra fat off or anything – again, lazy mode activated.

Then, I dumped the beef into my trusty Dutch oven. You could probably use a slow cooker too, but I like the way the Dutch oven cooks things evenly. Next came the “magic” ingredients:
- One packet of onion soup mix. The dry stuff, you know?
- One can of cream of mushroom soup. I used the regular kind, not the fancy stuff.
- One can of golden mushroom soup,I think you also use beef broth replace it.
I literally just sprinkled the onion soup mix over the beef, then plopped the two cans of soup on top. No stirring, no mixing, nothing. That’s the “no peek” part, I guess! It looked kinda weird, all gloppy and whatnot, but I trusted the process (mostly because I was too lazy to do anything else).
I slapped the lid on the Dutch oven and stuck it in a preheated 300°F (150°C) oven. Then, the hardest part: waiting. The recipe said to cook it for 3 hours without opening the lid. Three. Whole. Hours. The smell started wafting through the house after about an hour, and it was torture! My stomach was rumbling like crazy.
The taste
Finally, the timer went off. I carefully took the Dutch oven out (it was heavy!) and cautiously lifted the lid. Oh. My. Goodness. The beef was swimming in this rich, savory gravy. It smelled amazing, like a Sunday roast but without all the effort.
I grabbed a fork and gently poked at the beef. It was fall-apart tender, just like I hoped. I served it over some mashed potatoes (because, comfort food), but you could do rice, noodles, whatever you like.
Honestly, it was delicious! The beef was so flavorful and tender, and the gravy was perfect. And the best part? It took practically zero effort. This is definitely going into my regular rotation of easy, lazy meals. I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for something simple and satisfying!
