Okay, so, today I tried to make some BBQ beef tips, and let me tell you, it was a journey. I’ve always loved a good BBQ, and I figured, how hard could it be to make it myself?
First, I had to get the beef. I chose a cut that wasn’t too expensive, like a sirloin or something similar. Then came the fun part – the marinade. I learned that marinating is super important, it’s like giving your meat a flavor bath. I mixed together some stuff I found in my kitchen: vinegar, a little bit of lemon juice, and some oil. They say this helps to make the meat tender. I also threw in some salt and pepper because, why not?

I put the beef in a big bowl and poured the marinade over it, making sure every piece was nicely coated. Then I covered it and put it in the fridge. It had to sit there for at least an hour. I read somewhere that some people leave it overnight, but I was too impatient for that.
Cooking time! I took the beef out of the fridge and let it sit for a bit. They say you shouldn’t cook meat straight from the cold. Then, I heated up a skillet with some oil. When it was hot, I carefully placed the beef in the pan. The sizzle sound was pretty satisfying, I’m not gonna lie.
- I cooked the beef for a few minutes on each side, trying to get a nice brown color.
- It smelled amazing, by the way. My whole kitchen was filled with this delicious BBQ aroma.
The Sauce
While the beef was cooking, I started on the sauce. I wanted something sweet and tangy, so I mixed some ketchup, brown sugar, a bit of vinegar, and some spices. I tasted it a few times, adding a little bit of this and that until it was just right.
Once the beef was cooked, I took it out of the pan and let it rest. Meanwhile, I poured my homemade sauce into the same pan. I let it simmer for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until it got a bit thicker.
Finally, I put the beef back into the pan with the sauce, making sure each piece was coated well. I let it all cook together for a few more minutes, so the beef could soak up all that saucy goodness.
And there you have it, my BBQ beef tips adventure. It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty tasty. I served it with some mashed potatoes and veggies. It’s definitely something I’ll try again, maybe next time I’ll be brave enough to marinate it overnight!
