Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure making some “Christmas Finger Desserts”!
I’ve always loved having people over during the holidays, but I’m no pro baker. So, I wanted something festive, easy, and, most importantly, small. Finger food is perfect – no fuss, no plates, just grab-and-go deliciousness.

The Great Dessert Brainstorm
First things, I got to figure out what to do. I spent a good hour just scrolling through pictures online. I wanted things that screamed “Christmas!” without requiring, like, a culinary degree. I saw some were cute, some complicated, I want easy and cute!
Gathering the Troops (aka Ingredients)
I made a list, checked it twice (ha!), and headed to the store. Here’s what ended up in my cart:
- Pre-made sugar cookie dough: Because, honestly, who has time to make dough from scratch during the holidays?
- Red and green sprinkles: Gotta have that festive color!
- Miniature marshmallows: For snowmen, obviously.
- Pretzel sticks: Antlers! Or just salty-sweet goodness.
- Chocolate chips: For melting and drizzling, the fun part.
- Some Icing : For the base, and some cute decorate.
The Assembly Line
Okay, time to get down to business. I rolled out the cookie dough (after letting it soften a bit – rookie mistake number one, almost broke my rolling pin!). Then, I used these little Christmas-shaped cookie cutters I found – trees, stars, gingerbread men, the whole shebang.
I baked the cookies according to the package instructions, praying they wouldn’t burn. While they were baking, I got my other stuff ready. Melted the chocolate chips in the microwave (30-second intervals, stirring in between – burnt chocolate is a tragedy). And put some Icing.
Decoration Station
This is where the real fun began. Once the cookies were cooled (important! otherwise, your decorations will melt into a sad puddle), I went to town:
- Trees: I did some icing, then sprinkled. Simple, classic.
- Stars: Dipped in the melted chocolate, then added a sprinkle of… well, sprinkles.
- Snowmen: I used a tiny bit of melted chocolate to “glue” three mini marshmallows together. A little dot of chocolate for the eyes, and boom! Snowman.
- Reindeer: Break pretzel for antlers.
The Taste Test (and the Verdict)
Of course, I had to sample my creations. Strictly for quality control, you understand. And… they were good! Surprisingly good, even. The cookies were soft, the chocolate was, well, chocolate, and the sprinkles added that perfect little crunch. Plus, they looked adorable. Even my picky little one gave them a thumbs-up.
So, there you have it. My slightly chaotic, but ultimately successful, foray into Christmas finger desserts. It wasn’t perfect, but it was fun, festive, and most importantly, delicious. And at the end I did share them with families! Merry Christmas!
