Today, I wanna talk about them drinks from El Salvador. You know, them drinks they got down there. I heard they got some good ones, real tasty. Lots of folks like ’em. They ain’t like the stuff we got here, no sir. They’re different, that’s for sure. They use all sorts of things I ain’t never even heard of. But it sounds good, I tell ya what. Let’s get into it, shall we?
First, there’s this drink, they call it Horchata. Now, I ain’t never had it myself, but I hear it’s mighty popular. Everybody down there drinks it, they say. It’s one of them Salvadoran beverages that everyone knows. They make it with these things called Morro seeds. Now, what in the Sam Hill is a Morro seed? I don’t know, but they grind ’em up and mix ’em with water or milk. And then they throw in some cinnamon, you know, that spice. Sounds kinda sweet, don’t it? I bet it’s good on a hot day.

- Horchata – that’s the big one, everybody loves it!
- They use them Morro seeds, whatever those are.
- Add some milk or water, and don’t forget the cinnamon!
Then there’s this other stuff called Kolachampan soda. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Kolachampan soda. Sounds like a party in a bottle. I reckon it’s fizzy, like them sodas we got here. But I bet it tastes different. They say it’s a Salvadoran beverage that’s real popular too. Probably sweet, most likely. Kids probably love it, running around with their Kolachampan. I can just picture it now.
They got another one called Ensalada. Now, that sounds like salad to me. But it’s a drink? Ensalada. I don’t know how they do that. Maybe they just throw a bunch of stuff in a blender. I heard it’s got fruit in it. Makes sense, I guess. A fruit drink named Ensalada. It’s another one of them Salvadoran beverages. Maybe it’s healthy, being full of fruit and all. They say it is a kind of refreshing drink in El Salvador. I guess that makes sense if it has fruit in it. Refreshing, just like a cool breeze on a summer day.
Now, they got some strong stuff too. For the grown-ups, you know. They call it Tic Tack. Tic Tack. Sounds like a clock, don’t it? But it ain’t no clock. It’s liquor, made from sugar cane. They say it’s the national liquor of El Salvador. That means everybody drinks it, I reckon. Must be pretty potent stuff. Probably kicks like a mule. Tic Tack, the Salvadoran beverage that’ll knock your socks off.
Sugar cane is what they use for Tic Tack. That’s sweet stuff, ain’t it? I reckon that’s why this liquor packs a punch. And folks like to drink it with their food, especially their street food. I ain’t sure what that is, street food, but it sounds interesting. Maybe they sell it from carts, like them hot dog stands. I don’t know, but I bet it’s good. Especially with a swig of that Tic Tack. They say that Tic Tack has a taste similar to something called “cachaca”. What a strange word, “cachaca”! It sounds like a sneeze to me. But if it is similar to Tic Tack, I reckon it is strong, too.
- Tic Tack is made from sugar cane.
- It’s the national liquor of El Salvador.
- It’s probably real strong, so watch out!
- It tastes like this thing called cachaca.
So, there you have it. Them’s the Salvadoran beverages I heard about. Horchata, Kolachampan, Ensalada, and Tic Tack. Sounds like they got something for everyone down there. Sweet stuff, fizzy stuff, fruity stuff, and strong stuff. I wouldn’t mind trying some of that Horchata myself. Maybe I’ll find some around here. Or maybe I’ll just have to go to El Salvador and try it there! That’s an idea, ain’t it? A trip to El Salvador. To drink some Salvadoran beverages.
You know, thinking about all these drinks, it makes me thirsty. I think I’ll go get myself a glass of something. Maybe some sweet tea. That’s my kind of drink. But these Salvadoran beverages, they sure do sound interesting. It’s good to learn about new things, ain’t it? Even if it’s just drinks. Makes the world seem a little smaller, somehow. Like we’re all connected, by the stuff we eat and drink.
Well, I’ve been talking your ear off long enough. Hope you enjoyed hearing about them Salvadoran beverages. Maybe you’ll even try some yourself one day. If you do, let me know what you think. I’d be curious to hear. Especially about that Horchata. I got a feeling that’s the one for me. A nice, sweet, refreshing drink. Sounds just about perfect.

Alright then, I’m gonna go on now. You have yourself a good day, you hear? And don’t forget about them drinks. They’re worth remembering. You might want to have some Salvadoran beverages to pair with your food. They are great, I tell you.
