Alright, let’s talk about them drink holders, you know, the things you put your juice and stuff in. I ain’t no fancy scientist or nothing, but I know a thing or two about what’s what.
Now, you got your glass bottles. Them things have been around forever, ain’t they? My grandma used to have them thick glass milk bottles, real heavy they were. Glass is good ‘cause it don’t mess with the taste of your drink, you know? And you can wash ‘em out and use ‘em again and again, if you’re careful and don’t drop ‘em. But, Lord, they break easy! Drop one on the floor and you got yourself a mess, and little shards of glass everywhere.

Then you got all this plastic stuff. Plastic bottles, plastic jugs, plastic everything! It’s cheap, that’s for sure. And light too, easy to carry around. My grandson, he always buys them little plastic water bottles, drinks ‘em up and throws ‘em away. I tell him, “Boy, you’re gonna bury us in all that plastic one day!” But what can you do? They’re everywhere. The thing is, I heard they ain’t so good for the earth, all that plastic piling up. And sometimes, if the plastic ain’t good, your drink might taste a little…funny, you know?
- Glass: Heavy, breaks easy, but good for the taste and you can use it again.
- Plastic: Cheap, light, but not so good for the earth and might make your drink taste weird.
Now, there’s also them fancy metal bottles. I seen ‘em in the store, all shiny and new. My neighbor’s got one, he carries it everywhere he goes. Says it keeps his water cold all day. Seems strong, that metal, like it wouldn’t break easy. But they cost a pretty penny, them things. Not for folks like me, who are just trying to get by.
And then there’s them cardboard boxes with the shiny stuff inside, you know, for the juice and the milk? Them things are alright, I guess. They don’t break easy like glass, and they’re lighter than them glass bottles too. But once they’re empty, you can’t really use them for nothin else. And I don’t know how good they are for the environment neither. Seems like a lot of waste to me.
So, which one’s the best? Well, if you ask me, it depends on what you’re lookin for. If you want something that’s good for your drink and you can use over and over, glass is the way to go, if you can be careful with it. If you’re on a budget and you need something light and easy to carry around, plastic it is, but you got to think about all that waste it makes. Them metal ones are good if you got the money and want something that’ll last. And them cardboard boxes, well, they’re just kind of there, you know? Not the best, not the worst, just…there.
It ain’t always easy to choose, is it? Everything’s got its good points and its bad points. But one thing’s for sure, we need to be thinkin’ about what we’re doin’ with all this trash. We can’t just keep throwin’ things away and expectin’ the world to stay clean and healthy. My old pappy used to say, “Treat the earth like you treat your own home, with respect and care.” And he was a smart man, my pappy.
So next time you go to buy a drink, take a minute to think about what kind of container it’s in. Is it somethin’ you can use again? Is it somethin’ that’s gonna end up in a big pile of trash? Every little bit helps, you know? We gotta do our part to keep this ol’ world clean and tidy for the young’uns. That’s what I think, anyway.
And another thing, them fancy scientists, they keep talkin’ about “recycling” and all that. Well, I ain’t too sure what it all means, but I guess it’s about makin’ new things outta old things. Seems like a good idea to me. If we can turn them old bottles and cans into somethin’ new, well, that’s better than just lettin’ ’em sit in a landfill, ain’t it?

So, there you have it. My two cents on drink holders. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, but I’ve seen a thing or two in my time. And common sense tells you, we gotta be mindful about the choices we make, even when it comes to somethin’ as simple as a drink container.
