Okay, so the other day I was thinking, what drinks start with the letter “Q”? Sounds like a weird question, I know, but I was just curious. I started by hitting up the internet, just typing in “beverage starting with q” into the search bar, and guess what? Not a whole lot of options popped up.
I saw something about a Quarantine cocktail. The name caught my eye, probably ’cause of all the memories from the pandemic. They say it’s a mix of sweet and sour flavors, which sounds pretty good. Then there was something called a Quaalude, described as sweet and creamy. I’m not familiar with it, but it got me thinking about how many drinks are out there that I’ve never even heard of.

Another one that came up was Quwat Jabal, apparently a traditional drink. Then, on the total opposite end, there’s Quick Cola for an energy boost. It’s funny how one letter can have such different kinds of drinks associated with it, from something old and traditional to a modern-day energy drink.
Then I got this wild idea to make my own “Q” drink. I remembered seeing something about using quinoa in a drink. Yeah, quinoa, the stuff you usually eat in salads. So, I grabbed about a quarter cup of cooked and cooled quinoa. I decided to use almond milk as the base, ’cause I like the nutty flavor, but the internet said you could use any kind of milk or even juice.
- Quarter cup of cooked and cooled quinoa
- Almond milk as the base
- A couple of ripe bananas
I tossed in a couple of ripe bananas ’cause, well, who doesn’t like bananas? After blending it all up, it looked kinda thick and, not gonna lie, a bit weird. But hey, I was committed. I took a sip, and it was… interesting. Not bad, really, just different. It was kinda healthy-tasting, if that makes sense, with a slight sweetness from the bananas and this earthy undertone from the quinoa.
I also stumbled upon something about Q Berry Citrus rums. Apparently, it’s a new way to enjoy rum with natural lime flavors. Sounds refreshing, especially for a summer day. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my list now. It’s amazing how many different kinds of alcoholic drinks there are. They say one standard drink has about 14 grams of pure alcohol, which you find in 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits. I always find it interesting how different drinks have different alcohol content. Like, you’d need to drink a whole can of beer to get the same amount of alcohol as in a small glass of wine.
So, that was my little adventure with “Q” drinks. I started with a simple search, found some interesting stuff, tried making my own concoction, and even discovered a new type of rum I wanna try. It just goes to show, you never know what you’ll find when you start exploring, even if it’s just about something as random as drinks that start with a certain letter.
