Okay, so I decided to throw a brunch picnic for my friends this weekend, and let me tell you, it was a blast! But it did take some planning. First off, I brainstormed some recipe ideas. I wanted a good mix of sweet and savory, and stuff that would travel well, you know?
After a bunch of Googling and flipping through my old cookbooks, I settled on a menu. For the savory part, I decided to make mini quiches. I just grabbed some pre-made pie crust, whipped up a simple egg and cheese filling, and tossed in some chopped veggies. They baked up nicely, and I figured they’d be easy to transport.

Then, for something a little heartier, I made a big batch of breakfast burritos. I scrambled some eggs with sausage and potatoes, warmed up some tortillas, and rolled everything up with a bit of cheese and salsa. Those were a hit!
On the sweet side, I baked a loaf of banana bread. I used my grandma’s recipe, and it always turns out super moist. I also sliced up a bunch of fresh fruit – strawberries, blueberries, and grapes – and packed them into a separate container, so they wouldn’t get soggy.
To drink, I just brewed a big thermos of coffee and brought along some orange juice. I also packed a cooler with ice to keep the juice and some water bottles cold.
Packing it all up
- I lined my picnic basket with a cute checkered blanket.
- Then, I carefully packed in all the food. The quiches and burritos went into separate containers, and I wrapped the banana bread in foil.
- I also threw in some napkins, plates, and utensils. I almost forgot a bottle opener for the juice!
We headed to the park on Saturday morning, spread out our blanket, and dug in. Everyone loved the food, and we spent the afternoon chatting, laughing, and enjoying the sunshine. It was such a fun and relaxing way to spend a Saturday!
All in all, I’d say the brunch picnic was a success. It did require a bit of prep work, but it was totally worth it. If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to enjoy a meal with friends, I highly recommend giving it a try!
