Alright, let’s talk about canned venison. I’ve been experimenting with it lately, and I’ve got some thoughts to share. You know, I’m always on the lookout for ways to make meal prep easier and tastier, and canned venison seemed like a good option.

So, the first thing I did was gather some recipes. I found a bunch online, a lot of them pretty simple, which is what I was looking for. Stews, chili, soups, even just heating it up and serving it with rice or potatoes – there are tons of ways to use this stuff.

  • Canned Venison Stew: This one was a no-brainer. I threw the venison in a pot with some veggies, broth, and spices, and let it simmer for a while. It turned out pretty good, a hearty and flavorful meal.
  • Venison Chili: Another easy one. I basically just substituted the venison for ground beef in my usual chili recipe. It added a nice, rich flavor to the chili.
  • Quick Meals: Sometimes I’m just lazy, you know? So I’ll just heat up the venison and serve it over some rice or mashed potatoes. It’s a quick and satisfying meal.

One of my favorite things is just eating it straight out of the jar with a fork. Seriously, it’s that good. I mean, it’s already cooked and tender, so why not?

Now, I know some folks might be wondering about cooking fresh venison. I’ve done that too. My go-to method is to sear it in a cast iron skillet or on the grill. I like it medium-rare, and then I let it rest for about 10 minutes to let the juices redistribute. You can also roast it in the oven. I drizzle the loins with a little oil and roast them at 350°F for about 30 minutes.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with canned venison. It’s a convenient and tasty way to get some protein in your diet. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned cook, there are plenty of ways to use it. And hey, if you’re feeling adventurous, try cooking it fresh sometime. It’s worth the effort!

It’s just my experience, and you might find other ways that you enjoy. Cooking is all about experimenting, right? So, get out there and try some different things. You might be surprised at what you discover!
