Okay, so the other day I was craving some real Mexican food, you know, not that fast-food stuff. So I remembered this place I heard about, Catrina’s Mexican Cuisine. I thought, why not give it a shot?
I looked it up and found their address, it’s at 3061 Godwin Blvd, Suffolk. Drove there, and the place looked pretty inviting from the outside.

Walked in, and the vibe was cool, very authentic. I sat down and checked out the menu. They’ve got all the classics – tacos, nachos, the whole nine yards. I noticed they also had a good selection of seafood, which is a big plus for me.
- Tacos – They say it’s the most popular Mexican dish, and they had all kinds of fillings.
- Nachos – Always a good choice, perfect for sharing… or not.
- Seafood – This caught my eye, wasn’t expecting such a variety at a Mexican place.
- Desserts – I’m a sucker for sweets, so I was definitely saving room for this.
I decided to start with some tacos. I went with steak and chorizo. Man, they were good! The flavors were spot on, just like the street tacos you’d find in Mexico.
Next, I tried some of their seafood. Ordered a dish with shrimp, and it was surprisingly delicious. Fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. I was impressed.
Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying dessert. I asked the server for a recommendation, and they suggested their flan. I’m not usually a big flan guy, but I figured, when in Rome, right? And boy, was I glad I did! It was creamy, rich, and the perfect ending to the meal.
Throughout the meal, I enjoyed some of their refreshing drinks. They had a bunch of options, but I went with a classic horchata. It was sweet and cinnamon-y, just how I like it.
The service was good too. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food came out pretty quickly.
My Thoughts
Overall, I had a great experience at Catrina’s. It’s a solid spot for authentic Mexican food, and their seafood is a nice surprise. If you’re in the Suffolk area and looking for some good eats, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.

I will go there again!
