Okay, so I saw this chamoy pickle thing all over the internet and thought, “I gotta try this.” It looked so weird and interesting, I just had to see what the fuss was about. I’m a big fan of pickles and I’ve had chamoy before, but never together like this. So, I decided to make my own chamoy pickle kit and give it a shot.
Getting the Ingredients
First, I went online to figure out what I needed. It seemed pretty simple, basically just a big ol’ pickle, some chamoy sauce, and a bunch of other tangy and spicy stuff. I made a list:

- Big juicy dill pickles
- Chamoy sauce
- Fruit roll-ups
- Spicy candies like “salsagheti”
- Pulparindo candies
- Tajin seasoning
- Maybe some other gummy candies
Armed with my list, I hit up a few different stores. Found the pickles at a regular grocery store, no problem. The chamoy and the other Mexican candies were a bit trickier, but I managed to find them at a local Mexican market. I grabbed a few different kinds of candies, just to experiment a bit. I got a variety pack of the fruit roll ups and a few different types of spicy gummies. I also got the tajin seasoning from the Mexican market.
Putting It All Together
Back home, I laid everything out on the counter. First, I took out the pickles and dried them off a bit with some paper towels. Then, I cut off the top of one of the pickles to get it ready for stuffing. I used a spoon to scoop out the insides, making a little hollow pickle boat.
Next, I took a fruit roll-up and wrapped it around the hollowed-out pickle. It was kind of tricky, but I managed to get it to stick pretty well. After that, I squeezed a generous amount of chamoy sauce inside the pickle and also drizzled some on the outside. This stuff is messy!
Now for the fun part – stuffing it with candy! I started with some salsagheti, those long, spaghetti-like candies. Then I added a few pulparindo candies, which are these chewy, tamarind-flavored things. I also added some other spicy gummy candies and sprinkled the whole thing with a good amount of Tajin seasoning.
The Taste Test
Okay, so the moment of truth. I took a big bite, and… wow. It was definitely an explosion of flavors. The sourness of the pickle, the sweetness of the fruit roll-up, the tanginess of the chamoy, and the spiciness of the candies and Tajin – it was a lot going on. It was super messy to eat, but honestly, pretty fun. I don’t think this is something I’d eat everyday, but it was definitely a fun experiment. I ended up trying a few different combinations of candies and sauces, just to see what worked best. Some were definitely better than others.
Overall, making this chamoy pickle was a wild ride. It was messy, it was interesting, and it was definitely something I’m glad I tried. If you’re looking for a fun, unique snack experience, you should give it a shot! Just be prepared for a flavor explosion and a bit of a mess.
