Okay, so today I wanted to try something different in the kitchen, and I ended up making fried prosciutto tortellini. Let me tell you, it was a bit of an experiment, but it turned out pretty good!

First, I grabbed the prosciutto. I wasn’t really sure how to cook it. Then, I found that cooking prosciutto is kinda like cooking regular ham, so I just went with that thought.

Then came the tortellini. I had a pack of frozen tortellini in the freezer. Usually, I just boil them, but today, I thought, why not fry them? I mean, I’ve seen people bake tortellini, but I wanted something crispier. Then I remembered what I read on the internet, frying is basically cooking stuff in hot oil, around 350-375F. Sounded simple enough.

Getting Started

  • I took the frozen tortellini straight from the freezer.
  • Heated up a good amount of oil in a pan. I just eyeballed it, you know, enough to cover the bottom of the pan.

The Frying Process

  • Once the oil was hot (I tested it by dropping a tiny piece of tortellini in, and it sizzled right away), I carefully added the tortellini to the pan.
  • Then I tossed in the prosciutto with the tortellini.
  • I kept the heat on medium-high, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. I wanted each piece to get that nice, crispy texture.
  • I let them fry for a few minutes, flipping them occasionally. It was cool to see them turn golden brown.

Finishing Up

  • After about 5-7 minutes, they looked perfect – golden and crispy.
  • I took them out of the pan and placed them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain off any excess oil.

Honestly, it was a fun little cooking adventure. The tortellini had this awesome crunch, and the prosciutto added a nice savory flavor. It was definitely a step up from the usual boiled tortellini. Plus, it didn’t take much time at all, maybe around 30 minutes from start to finish. I saw something about quick meals under 30 minutes, and I guess this one counts! I read a lot of recipes online, but sometimes it’s just fun to wing it and see what happens. Anyway, that’s how my fried prosciutto tortellini experiment went. Might try it again with some different fillings or sauces next time!
