Okay, so the other day I was craving some good old comfort food, and what’s more comforting than Cracker Barrel’s cornbread dressing? I decided to give it a shot and make it at home. Let me tell you, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!
First things first, I gathered all the ingredients. I already had some leftover cornbread and a couple of biscuits lying around, which was perfect. I also grabbed some onions, celery, parsley, and poultry seasoning from the pantry. And of course some eggs and chicken broth to make it all moist and yummy. I didn’t have any pre-made ones so I grabbed some from my local shop.

Next, I chopped up the onions and celery into small pieces. I like them to be pretty fine so they kind of melt into the dressing. Then, I crumbled the cornbread and biscuits into a big bowl. It felt good to get my hands in there and break them up.
After that, I mixed in the chopped veggies, some freshly chopped parsley, and a generous amount of poultry seasoning. I love that herby flavor, so I was pretty liberal with the seasoning. I whisked a couple of eggs with the chicken broth until they were all nice and combined. Then, I poured that mixture over the dry ingredients and gave everything a good stir. I wanted to make sure all the bread was coated nicely. You know how much I love to get my hands dirty in the kitchen, so I dove right in and mixed it all together. After a little elbow grease, I had a lovely, moist mixture. But if it is too dry, feel free to add more broth!
Baking Time!
I greased up a baking dish and spooned the dressing mixture into it, spreading it out evenly. Then, into the oven it went! I baked it for about an hour until it was golden brown and bubbly. The smell that filled my kitchen was absolutely heavenly. It smelled like Thanksgiving!
- Chopped onions and celery.

- Mixed everything with parsley and poultry seasoning.
- Combined eggs and broth, poured over the mixture.

When it was done, I let it cool for a bit before serving. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! It tasted just like the Cracker Barrel version, maybe even better because I made it myself. The dressing was moist and flavorful, with that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet. It is a big win for sure! I think I am gonna add it to my weekly meal!
