Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with Indian food lately, and I decided to go DEEP. I’m talking royal Indian food – the stuff they served to kings and queens. The fancy name is “Maharaja Cuisine,” and I wanted to find a menu to try and recreate some dishes at home. Here’s how my little adventure went:
First, I hit up the internet, just typing in “maharaja cuisine of india menu.” I figured I’d find something, maybe a restaurant menu or a blog post with some ideas. I was hoping for something, like authentic…you know?
I started scrolling, and wow, I was finding recipes on all types of websites.
I saw a bunch of names I recognized, like “Butter Chicken” and “Biryani,” but also tons of stuff I’d never heard of. My mouth was already watering, I could feel it.
Digging Deeper
I realized I needed to get a little more organized. So, I started taking the details from each recipe I could find and put it into a spreadsheet.
- Recipe Name: Kept the original name, even if I couldn’t pronounce it!
- Ingredients:This was the hard part. So. Many. Spices!
- InstructionsTried my best to just get the basics to simplify the recipes.
- Prep Time To get an idea for if it was a weekend project.
- Cook Time Same as the prep time, just to know what I am up against.
I felt like a real food detective, hunting down all these clues. I spent a good few hours just reading, copying, and pasting. It was kind of a mess, honestly, but I was learning a lot. It was way harder than I first thought, it really was.
My First Attempt (and Minor Disaster)
I decided to start with something that looked simple: a lentil dish. I figured, how hard could lentils be? (Famous last words, right?) I found a recipe that seemed promising, gathered my ingredients (or at least, what I thought were the right ingredients), and got to work.
Let me tell you, my kitchen turned into a spice explosion. I was coughing, my eyes were watering, and I’m pretty sure I used way too much of something. The lentils ended up… well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly fit for a king. More like fit for the trash can, sadly.
Lessons Learned (and Future Plans)
Okay, so my first attempt was a bit of a flop. But I’m not giving up! I learned a few valuable lessons:

- Start Small: Maybe lentils weren’t the best starting point. I need to find something even simpler.
- Read Carefully: I definitely skimmed the instructions a bit. Gotta pay closer attention next time.
- Spice Control: A little goes a LONG way. I need to be more careful with those potent powders!
- Find good recipes: I need to stick to some of the more popular websites for recipes instead of the random ones I was pulling from.
I’m still excited to explore Maharaja cuisine. I might try a simple rice dish next, or maybe a yogurt-based sauce. Wish me luck! And if anyone out there has any tips or favorite recipes, send them my way! I’m all ears (and ready to learn from my mistakes!). I’m not going to let those lentils get the best of me.
