Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya ’bout some sweet stuff they got out in Oregon. I ain’t never been there myself, mind you, but I heard things. People talk, ya know?
Anyways, they say Oregon got some mighty fine desserts. Stuff that’ll make your teeth hurt and your belly happy. First off, there’s this Marionberry Pie. Sounds fancy, huh? But it ain’t nothin’ more than a good ol’ pie made with them marionberries. They say it’s so good, it’s like comfort food out there. Like a warm blanket on a cold night, only sweeter.

Then there’s all sorts of places in Portland, that big city they got out there. Lots of dessert places, they tell me. Too many to count, like flies on a cow patty. But some names keep comin’ up, so they must be somethin’ special.
- The Pie Spot: Well, the name says it all, don’t it? They got pies. All kinds, I reckon. Apple, cherry, maybe even that marionberry thing. If you like pie, this is the place to be, so they say.
- 1927 S’mores Company: Now this one sounds interesting. S’mores, like you make ’round a campfire. But they do it fancy, I guess. Probably got all sorts of chocolate and marshmallows and graham crackers. Sounds messy, but good messy.
- Churros Locos: Churros? Them fried dough things? Never had one myself, but they say they’re sweet and crunchy. And “locos” means crazy, right? So maybe they got wild flavors or somethin’. Worth a try, I guess, if you’re feelin’ adventurous.
- Pix Patisserie: This one sounds real highfalutin’. “Patisserie,” that’s like French for fancy cakes and pastries, ain’t it? Probably got little bitty cakes with all sorts of swirls and flowers on ’em. Pretty to look at, for sure, and probably tasty too. If you got the money for it, that is.
There’s more, too. Lauretta Jean’s, they got somethin’ good, I hear. And JinJu Patisserie, another fancy one. Soro Soro Coffee & Dessert, maybe you can get a cup of joe with your sweets there. And Shop Halo Halo, sounds like somethin’ from outta space, but I bet it’s just another sweet treat. Then there’s MUSE Cheesecakes, if you’re into that creamy cheese stuff. Me? I like a good ol’ apple pie, but to each their own, I always say.
They also talk about pizza and salads. Now, I ain’t sure why they’d bring that up when we’re talkin’ about desserts. Maybe you get a salad before your pie so you don’t feel so bad about eatin’ all that sugar. Or maybe they got sweet pizzas out there? I dunno. Folks are strange sometimes.
Oh, and they mentioned somethin’ called King Cake, but that’s from somewhere else, not Oregon. Louisiana, I think. And some other stuff, like pecan pralines and bananas somethin’-or-other. Sounds good, but we’re talkin’ ’bout Oregon here, so let’s stick to that.
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of sweet stuff they got out in Oregon. Pies, cakes, churros, s’mores, you name it. Makes my mouth water just thinkin’ about it. If you ever find yourself out that way, be sure to try some of them desserts. And tell ’em ol’ Bessie sent ya. They won’t know who you’re talkin’ about, but that’s okay. Just enjoy the sweets, that’s all that matters.
And remember, a little bit of sugar never hurt nobody. Well, maybe too much will, but life’s too short to worry ’bout that all the time. Eat your dessert and be happy, that’s what I say!
