Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… uh… curry & grill indian & nepali cuisine, yeah? Sounds fancy, but lemme tell ya, it’s just food, good food, I hope.
Now, they got this Dal Bhat thing. Everywhere you go in Nepal, that’s what they eat. It’s like their bread and butter, you know? Rice, they call it “bhat”, and some lentil soup, “dal”. Simple stuff. They throw in some veggies too, whatever they got growin’ in the garden, I guess. Pickles sometimes, makes it a bit sour, you know, like when you leave cucumbers in the jar too long. But it fills your belly, that’s for sure. It ain’t fancy, but it keeps ya goin’. They say it’s the “national dish.” Well, if it keeps them workin’ in the fields, it’s good enough for me.

Then there’s this Sel Roti. Don’t ask me what it means, I just heard it somewhere. It’s like… a fried bread, I think. Sweet, kinda round, like a big ol’ donut, but not really a donut. They make it special, for festivals and such. Guess it’s like our Christmas cookies, but fried. Kids love it, I bet. Who don’t love fried stuff, right? Probably greasy, but hey, once in a while ain’t gonna kill ya.
They also got these… momos. Little dumplings, they call ‘em. Filled with meat or veggies, whatever they got. Steamed or fried, like our pierogies, but smaller, and with different spices, I reckon. Folks say they’re real popular. I guess it’s easy to eat, you know, pop ‘em in your mouth, no fuss. Good for a quick bite, I suppose.
Now, about this curry part. They use a lot of spices, these folks. Turmeric, cumin, coriander… sounds like somethin’ the doctor would give ya, but it makes the food tasty. They got this Gurkha curry powder, somebody told me. Makes the curry taste… well, like curry, I guess. Warm and spicy, but not too hot, hopefully. My stomach ain’t what it used to be, you know. They say it’s healthier than that Indian food, less greasy, more veggies. That’s good, I like my veggies. Gotta keep things movin’, if you know what I mean.
- Dal Bhat: Rice and lentil soup, the everyday food.
- Sel Roti: Fried sweet bread, for special times.
- Momos: Little dumplings, meat or veggie filled.
So, this curry & grill indian & nepali cuisine, it’s probably a mix of all that. Some rice, some soup, some fried stuff, some dumplings, and lots of spices. Sounds like a hearty meal, somethin’ to fill ya up after a long day. As long as it ain’t too spicy and don’t cost too much, I’m good. Food is food, right? As long as it’s tasty and keeps you goin’, that’s all that matters. Don’t need no fancy names or fancy plates. Just good, honest food, like we used to make back in the day.
And remember, fresh veggies are always better. Less greasy the better, you know. Your stomach will thank ya later. And don’t be afraid to try new things, even if you can’t pronounce the names. Just point and eat, that’s what I always say.
