So, I started this Daniel Fast thing, you know, for worship and sacrifice, 21 days without all the good stuff, no meat, no dairy, and definitely no typical desserts.
At first, I was really wondering how I would satisfy my sweet cravings. I mean, a fast is a fast, right? But, hey, it doesn’t mean you can’t have anything tasty. So, I did a little digging and started experimenting in the kitchen.

- First off, I made these Daniel Fast cookies. They are not your usual cookies full of sugar and processed ingredients, but they are surprisingly good!
- Then, I got this idea for a vegan pie. I know, it sounds crazy, a pie without sugar, but trust me, it works. I used a bunch of fruits and some natural sweeteners that are allowed on the fast, and bam! It was delicious.
- Oh, and I made these frozen banana pops. These are super easy and really hit the spot when you’re craving something cold and sweet.
- I even tried something a little out there—boiled whole wheat pasta with grated apples, and sauteed with oil. Sounds weird, but it was a nice little treat.
Mostly, I stuck to just eating a lot of fresh fruit with a bit of cinnamon on top. Simple, but it really does the trick when you need something sweet. These fruits are sweet, easy to prepare, and totally fine for the fast.
Here’s what I figured out you can eat on this fast:
- Whole grains
- Beans
- Legumes
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Nuts and seeds
- Some oils
And here’s the no-go list:
- Any animal products
- Sugar and artificial sweeteners
- Caffeine
- Anything with yeast or leavening agents
- Deep-fried foods
It’s been a real eye-opener, honestly. Changing what I eat and focusing on these whole, plant-based foods has been quite the experience. And, you know, figuring out desserts that fit into the Daniel Fast made it a whole lot easier. It’s not just about sticking to the rules, but finding creative ways to enjoy what you eat, even on a fast.
