Okay, so I’ve been on this kick lately trying to bake my way through the alphabet. You know, like a personal challenge thing. Today was “S” day, and let me tell you, it was a sweet adventure. I wanted to document all the desserts starting with the letter S that I made.
Brainstorming and Choosing
First, I grabbed a pen and paper and just started listing every “S” dessert I could think of. My brain went straight to the classics:

- Strawberry Shortcake
- S’mores
- Snickerdoodles
- Soufflé
I quickly realized that I needed to get something going that takes a long time, so I picked a simple soufflé to start with. That needs to be prepped and started first before I get anything else going.
The Prep Work
The Strawberry Shortcake was pretty straightforward. I already had some store-bought shortcakes (don’t judge, it was a busy day!), so I sliced up a bunch of fresh strawberries, whipped up some cream, and layered it all together. Easy peasy.
Next up, Snickerdoodles. I pulled out my grandma’s old recipe card – it’s stained and faded, but the cookies always turn out amazing. I mixed the butter and sugar, added the eggs and vanilla, and then slowly incorporated the dry ingredients. The best part? Rolling the dough balls in cinnamon sugar. My kitchen smelled incredible.
The Baking Begins
I popped the Snickerdoodles into the oven and set the timer. While those were baking, I tackled the soufflé. It’s not as hard as everyone thinks. I just whisked some egg whites until they were super fluffy, and then I had to fold everything in with a light hand. You have to make sure to not over do it, so the result will be airy. I put the whole mess into a little dish and placed it into the oven with the Snickerdoodles.
S’mores Assembly
While the soufflé and cookies baked, I got to work on the s’mores. I was so excited to try, so I grabbed some cookies I already made and put some marshmallows on top. After a quick toast with the kitchen torch, I placed a piece of chocolate and another cookie on top to cap it off.
The Final Result
Everything came out of the oven looking golden brown and delicious. The Strawberry Shortcake was a refreshing classic, the Snickerdoodles were warm and cinnamon-y, and the soufflé was perfectly puffed up. This “S” day was definitely a success!
