Alright, let’s talk about some sweet stuff for folks who gotta watch their sugar, you know, like those with the diabeetus. My old man had it, so I know a thing or two about it. We’re gonna use strawberries, ‘cause they’re kinda sweet but not too bad, and they taste real good in the summer when they’re red and juicy.
First thing, we gotta think about keeping that sugar low. I heard somewhere that some fruits are better than others. Like, them cherries and apples, they ain’t so bad on the sugar. So, maybe we can mix ‘em with strawberries. Makes sense, right? Keepin’ it healthy, that’s the key. We don’t want nobody gettin’ sick.

Now, I saw some fancy folks making them little pie things, tartlets they called ‘em. Looked real pretty, but I ain’t got time for that fuss. But the idea, it ain’t bad. Maybe we can take some of them ready-made crusts, the ones you buy at the store, and fill ‘em up with strawberries and some other stuff. Like, maybe some yogurt, the thick kind, you know, the Greek stuff. I tried it once, it’s a little sour but good for you, I guess. Mix that with the strawberries and maybe a little bit of that fake sugar stuff, and you got yourself a treat. Not too much sugar though, remember!
- Strawberry and Yogurt Treat: Mix plain Greek yogurt with chopped strawberries. Add a tiny bit of sweetener if you need it, but not too much! You can put it in them little pie crusts or just eat it outta a bowl. Easy peasy.
- Frozen Strawberry Bites: Just cut up the strawberries and freeze ‘em. Then you got a cold snack for when it’s hot outside. My grandkids love these. They call it healthy ice cream, haha.
Then there’s them cookies. Now, cookies usually got a lot of sugar, but maybe we can make ‘em a little different. I saw something about oatmeal cookies, the kind with the raisins. But instead of raisins, we’ll use strawberries, of course. And maybe not so much sugar. And I heard that tahini stuff, that sesame paste, can make things chewy, so maybe we’ll throw some of that in there too. Gotta make it healthy, but it still gotta taste good, ya know?
Another thing I saw, they called it bark. Like, tree bark, but not really. It was yogurt, that Greek stuff again, spread out thin, and they put stuff on top, like strawberries and chocolate. But not too much chocolate, mind you! Just a little bit, for flavor. You freeze it, and then you break it into pieces. Kinda like a candy bar, but not so bad for you. It’s all about finding ways to make things tasty without all that sugar.
And don’t forget them smoothies! My daughter got one of them fancy blender things, and she’s always making smoothies. You just throw in some strawberries, maybe some of that yogurt again, and some ice. Blend it all up, and you got yourself a drink. You can put in other fruits too, like them cherries or apples we talked about earlier. Makes it a little sweeter, and it’s good for you.
Oh, and I almost forgot! You can dip them strawberries in chocolate. But just a little bit, like I said. You melt that chocolate, dip the strawberries in it, and then put ‘em on some wax paper to cool. It’s a little bit fancy, but it ain’t hard to do. And it’s a nice treat for when you got company. They’ll think you’re some fancy cook, but it’s easy as pie, or easier, really.
So, there you have it. A few ideas for sweet treats that ain’t gonna make your sugar go crazy. Just remember, keep it simple, use them strawberries, and don’t go overboard on the sugar. That’s how my old man did it, and he lived a good long life, even with the diabeetus. And always remember, fresh ingredients taste the best! Alright, I gotta go now, my shows are on. You take care now, ya hear?
