Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this place, this… uh… Ocean Bay Indian Grub, yeah, that’s it. It’s like, a food joint, y’know? Servin’ up Indian eats. Down here in Jacksonville, they say.
Now, I ain’t no fancy food critic or nothin’, but I know good eatin’ when I taste it. And this place, well, it’s got flavors, lots of ’em. They say it’s like all over India on a plate. Spicy stuff from up north, they say, and that saucy, smelly-good curry from down south. I ain’t been to India, but if it tastes like this, sign me up!
- They got rice, yeah, rice with all sorts of stuff in it. Little seeds, they call ’em cumin, and that butter stuff, ghee. And other things, too, like them cardamom pods, bay leaves, and them clove thingies. Smells real nice, I tell ya. Makes your mouth water just thinkin’ ’bout it.
- And if you’re one of them veggie folks, they got plenty for you too. All sorts of greens and beans and I don’t know what all, but it’s tasty. My niece, she’s all about that vegan stuff, and she said it’s the real deal.
This Ocean Bay place, they say it’s right on Yopp Road. Number 521, somethin’ somethin’ Suite 100. Sounds fancy, Suite 100, but it’s just a place to eat, y’know? Don’t get all high and mighty about it.
They talk about “authentic” Indian food. Now, I ain’t sure what “authentic” means, but it tastes good, and that’s all that matters to me. If you’re hankerin’ for somethin’ different, somethin’ with a kick, this might be your place. It ain’t your grandma’s meatloaf, that’s for sure.
I tried this one dish, it was called… somethin’ I can’t even say. Had chicken in it, and lots of sauce. And spices, oh boy, the spices! Made my nose run a little, but it was worth it. Warmed me right up, it did. And the rice, fluffy and light, not like that sticky stuff you get sometimes.
They also had this bread, they call it naan. It’s flat and kinda chewy, and you use it to scoop up the sauce. Man, that’s good eatin’. Better than a spoon, I say. Gets every last bit of that yummy sauce. And they got different kinds of naan, too. Some with garlic, some with butter, some with… I don’t even know what, but it’s all good.
And the folks there, they’re real nice. Always smilin’ and askin’ if you need anything. Makes you feel welcome, y’know? Like you’re eatin’ at your neighbor’s house, only the food’s a whole lot fancier. And they seem to really care about the food they’re making, not just slapping it together like some places.
They say it’s a new place in Jacksonville, this Ocean Bay. Well, I hope they stick around. It’s a good change from all the burger joints and pizza places. Something different, something with a little bit of zing. If you’re tired of the same old grub, go on down and give it a try. You might just like it.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s the best food I ever ate, but it’s darn good. And it’s somethin’ new, somethin’ exciting. And that’s what life’s all about, ain’t it? Tryin’ new things, seein’ what the world’s got to offer. And if that offerin’ comes with a side of spicy curry and fluffy rice, well, I ain’t complainin’. So, if you’re in Jacksonville and you’re hungry, go on down to Ocean Bay Indian Grub. Tell ’em the old lady sent ya. They might not know who you’re talkin’ about, but that’s alright. Just go and enjoy the food. That’s all that matters.
You won’t be disappointed. Trust me on this one. It’s good food, plain and simple. And ain’t that what we all want, at the end of the day? A full belly and a happy heart. And maybe a little bit of that spicy kick to keep things interesting. So go on, get yourself some of that Ocean Bay Indian food. You deserve it.
