So, I saw this cool idea online about making desserts inspired by Disney movies. You know, like those fancy themed treats you see people making? I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’m no expert baker, but I love Disney, and who doesn’t love a good dessert?
First, I picked a few of my favorite Disney movies and tried to think of what kind of dessert would match each one. This was fun! I ended up with:

- The Little Mermaid – Maybe something with “sea” colors, like blue and green?
- Beauty and the Beast – That grey stuff dessert they sing about!
- Aladdin – Something with dates or exotic flavors, you know?
Next, I went online and started looking for recipes. I searched for stuff like “blue velvet cupcakes” for The Little Mermaid, “grey stuff recipe” for Beauty and the Beast, and “date cookies” for Aladdin. There were tons of options, maybe a little too many… it got overwhelming.
The Little Mermaid Cupcakes
For the Little Mermaid cupcakes, I found this recipe for blue velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting. I followed the recipe. The batter turned out a nice shade of blue, but it was a bit of a mess to get the food coloring just right. I added some green sprinkles on top to make them look “ocean-y.” They tasted okay, but the blue color was a little bit off-putting, to be honest.
Beauty and the Beast’s “Grey Stuff”
The “Grey Stuff” was easier. I found a simple recipe online that was basically just whipped cream with some crushed cookies mixed in. I whipped some cream, crushed some cookies, and mixed it all together. It was super easy and actually tasted pretty good! I put it in a little bowl and tried to make it look fancy, like in the movie.
Aladdin’s Date Cookies
The date cookies were the hardest. I found a recipe that seemed simple enough, but working with dates was a sticky mess. I chopped the dates, mixed them with the batter, and baked the cookies. They ended up being kind of dry, and the dates were a little too chewy for my liking. Not my best work, but hey, I tried.
In the end, it was a fun little experiment. I made a mess, I learned a few things, and I got to eat some okay desserts. Would I do it again? Maybe. But I think next time I’ll stick to simpler recipes. And maybe leave the blue food coloring out of the cupcakes.
