Alright, let’s talk about cookin’ a goose in that there crock pot. Ya know, the one that sits on the counter and does all the work for ya? Yep, that’s the one. Now, I ain’t no fancy chef or nothin’, but I know how to make a good, stick-to-your-ribs meal, and goose in a crock pot? Well, that’s just plain good eatin’.

First off, ya gotta get yourself a goose. Don’t go stealin’ one now, ya hear? Go to the store or a farm, wherever they sell ’em. Now, these geese, they’re kinda fatty, ya see? So, some folks say ya gotta poke holes in the skin and dunk it in hot water before ya start cookin’. I guess that helps get rid of some of that fat. But honestly, I ain’t always got the time for all that fussin’. Sometimes I just throw it in there and let it cook. It still turns out alright.

Now, about cookin’ it even. Some folks say ya gotta turn it over, breast-side down first, then flip it later. I guess that makes sense, helps it cook all the way through. But honestly, in the crock pot, it kinda cooks itself, ya know? Low and slow, that’s the secret. Just let it simmer and do its thing.

  • First, get that goose.
  • Wash that goose good and proper.
  • Maybe poke some holes in the skin. Maybe not. Up to you.

Now, some folks like to get fancy with their goose. They slice it up and make all sorts of things, like them fajita things or that schnitzel stuff. Sounds good, I guess, but I’m more of a simple cook. I like to just throw it in the crock pot with some veggies and let it cook till it’s fall-off-the-bone tender. That’s the good stuff, right there.

And speakin’ of cookin’ it, let’s talk about what ya put in that there crock pot with the goose. Some folks use that cream of mushroom soup stuff. I ain’t a big fan, myself, but if you like it, go ahead. Just don’t use too much, or it’ll be all soupy. And if ya want it thicker, I heard tell ya can put in some flour. Just a spoonful or two, that’s all ya need. It thickens right up.

Now, me, I like to keep it simple. I throw in some onions, carrots, potatoes, maybe some celery if I got it. Just chop ’em up rough, no need to get all fancy. And then I add some water or broth, whatever I got on hand. Sometimes I put in a little bit of this and a little bit of that, ya know, just to give it some flavor. A little salt, a little pepper, maybe some garlic powder if I’m feelin’ fancy. But mostly, I just let the goose do the talkin’. It’s got plenty of flavor all on its own.

And don’t forget the spices! I ain’t one for fancy spices with names I can’t even pronounce. Salt, pepper, maybe a little paprika if I’m feelin’ sassy. That’s all you need, really. Don’t go overboard, or you’ll ruin the taste of the goose itself. We want goose flavor, not spice flavor, ya hear?

Now, how long do ya cook it? Well, that depends on how big your goose is and how hot your crock pot gets. But mostly, I cook it on low all day. Like, eight hours or so. That way, it gets real tender and juicy. You can stick a fork in it and it just falls apart. That’s how ya know it’s done.

This goose crock pot recipe, it ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s good, honest food. It’s perfect for when ya got folks comin’ over or just want a warm meal on a cold night. And the best part is, it’s easy. Just throw everything in the pot and let it cook. Ya can’t mess it up, even if ya try.

And if you’re looking for something different, you can always add a little kick to your goose. Like, them folks who make that Mexican chicken in the crock pot? They use spices and peppers and all sorts of things. You could do that with goose, too, I reckon. Just throw in some chili powder, some cumin, maybe some jalapenos if ya like it hot. It’ll add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your goose, that’s for sure.

So, there ya have it. My recipe for goose in a crock pot. It ain’t fancy, but it’s good. And that’s all that matters, right? Now go on and try it yourself. And let me know how it turns out.
